SteveW #4 Posted April 1, 2006 I've only played Robotech: Battlecry (which I didn't really get into), a Macross game for the Dreamcast who's name I can't remember (didn't care for that one either), and the latest (not really Macross related, but Robotech related) game, Robotech: Invasion for the PS2. I liked that one, even though I never bothered watching that section of the Robotech cartoon. Oh, and I also have a Macross game on one of my Famiclones. It's a really lousy shooter, and I never bothered playing it for more than a couple minutes.
darklord1977 #5 Posted April 1, 2006 that game is called macross M3 its not the best one , but it is still fun
airraid #6 Posted April 1, 2006 Super Spacefortress Macross - Arcade - Banpresto, 1992 and MACROSS PLUS - Arcade - Banpresto, 1996
darklord1977 #7 Posted April 1, 2006 awww yeah! i remember playing this in a arcade near my hotel when i was in tokyo in 97 (my cousin wanted to buy the machine and have it shipped over for our apt im not kidding this game is awesome! ) but they refused to sell it .... ive been looking for a port of this one for years (it would rock on the neo geo
lkermel #8 Posted April 4, 2006 You're right guys, those Macross arcade games rule !!!! But my favourite home Macross game is definitively the horizontal shooter Scrambled Valkyrie for the Super Famicom. Great stuff !
darklord1977 #9 Posted April 4, 2006 yep, that was a great game..for some reason the japanese games are better than the american games where robotech is concerned. Robotech battlecry was good, but marcoss for the ps2 is much better. now robotech invasion , well its not macross and it seemed to be rushed i read that it was supposted to be a pc game only but they wanted it out on the systems in a hurry..and it shows. i only wish they made some southern cross games based on the second part of robotech..the robotech masters driving a hovertank would be sweet! lkermel #10 Posted April 4, 2006 i only wish they made some southern cross games based on the second part of robotech..the robotech masters driving a hovertank would be sweet! But it will certainly be an American game. Southern Cross and Mospeada have no relations to Macross in Japan, there were released in America adn Europe to extend the series. This is why I doubt Japanese will ever make a Southern Cross games... this is a shame, you're right, it would be sweet to play such a game....

But nothing will ever top the macross saga
SteveW #12 Posted April 5, 2006 I didn't think Southern Cross was popular in Japan, since the show was cancelled before the story's end.
airraid #13 Posted April 5, 2006 (edited) I was HYPED for RoboTech on Ultra 64 when GameFan had these pictures too bad I had no idea back then, 1995 or so, that these were pre-rendered graphics. Also, the actual work-in-progress on N64 Robotech: Crystal Dreams look absolutely NOTHING like the above renders. those renders could be done in realtime on PS2, Gamecube or Xbox, probably even Dreamcast (and no, they could *not* be done in realtime on N64) Edited April 5, 2006 by airraid
darklord1977 #14 Posted April 5, 2006 the game looked sweet ..but ive always hated that n64 controller..i have to use a adaptor so i can play with another controller..crystal dreams was a great game a friend of mine got a copy when he was in china...it rocks:)
lkermel #15 Posted April 6, 2006 It is a good thing those pics were not from the game itself... the super-colored valkyrie and the chromy walkers would have looked a bit cheesy don't you think ? like those first CG shorts back in the 80s More seriously, I remember seeing pics of the more 'realistic' and final looking game, it is a shame it never made it, it was looking great. sega saturn x #16 Posted April 10, 2006 well, since southern cross and mospeada are both anime series from japan you would think somebody would have made a game, since the shows were both popular series as well Not so much, as stated before southern cross was cancelled 13 epsiodes early. Which is really a shame since it showed a lot of potential. And Mospeada was a dud as well, only it made it all the way through. Not to say I wouldn't like to see a southern cross game, because I would. I think what I'm going to do is pick up the saturn macross games than figure out a way to import the sony ones. JB #17 Posted April 10, 2006 macross playstation 2..is a shooter thats based on the japanese series.. And the movie. It has both versions of the story in it. macross scrambled valkyre super famicon..is a shooter that takes place after the macross movie..do you remember love? Actually, it's a non-continuity game. The game has no set timeframe, and like all pre-PS1 titles, has been officially banished from the continuity. like all macross/robotech games you can treansform to all 3 modes and fight the zentradi...lots of fun..Surprisingly, that ISN'T like all Macross games. macross.. do you remember love for the saturn..is the game based on the anime movie that came out in 1984 where you pilot a veritech fighter and play thru the scenes of the movie and they have lots of film clips from the movie in this whopping 2 disc set..this is one of my favorite macross games...Valkyrie, not veritech. This isn't a Robotech game. </nitpicking> The DYRL game is notable for filling in the "beginning" of the story The movie starts with the Macross near Mars. The game is polite enough to add a sequence covering the initial zentradi attack and the Macross' escape from Earth. This game was also ripped off(rather badly) for the GBA title "Robotech: The Macross Saga." macross 2036 takes place years after the regular macross series In 2036, if it was canon. Again, this one's been banished from continuity. It also had continuity issues with both versions of the story even before it was officially banished, meaning it never really fit to begin with. where u are the daughter of max and miriya(not dana im afraid) Only Because Dana didn't exist in Macross. You play as Komillia Jenius, who IS in fact Max and Millia's first daughter, the one seen in the Macross TV series, and the one Robotech renamed Dana. robotech/macross is very popular over there still..its like how disney is over here.. Robotech isn't even LEGAL over there. As for Macross... it's not really that big. It's strong enough to justify the occasional new project, but nowhere NEAR Disney proportions. Gundam, though... well, since southern cross and mospeada are both anime series from japan you would think somebody would have made a game, since the shows were both popular series as well Not so much, as stated before southern cross was cancelled 13 epsiodes early. While not a rousing success, MOSPEADA DID have enough of a following to generate an OVA sequel, known as Love, Live, Alive. There's apparently been some interest in creating another series, but not enough to actually get it going. There was talk recently about reworking the new Robotech cartoon as a MOSPEADA sequel, which would be ironic to say the least. Remains to be seen if that'll happen. As far as games... Robotech: Invasion is likely all anyone will ever see of it. I want to say there was an MSX game as well, but I'm really not sure at all. Southern Cross wasn't well-liked in Japan, and it's section of Robotech wasn't well-liked in America. So no one on either side of the world is going to do a game based on it. ILA2600 #21 Posted May 2, 2006 (edited) A Robotech Sequal is being made and it is a direct sequal to Robotechs The New Generation, it's called Robotech The Shadow Chronicles, it tells of the latter exploits of Scott Bernard going out to search for Admiral Rick Hunter, and the SDF-3!, you can see a Teaser Trailer at www.robotech.com , the TRAILER is really fantastic, I've played Macross for the Famicom, both Macross Arcade games ( MAME ), the Macross game for the Super Famicom, I think one for the PS1, Battlecry for the PS2, and Robotech Invasion also for the PS2, all are great games to play if your Macross/ Robotech fans!!! I would like to see a Robotech 2 the Sentinels PS2 game made, that would be cool!! Edited May 2, 2006 by ILA2600

I would like to see a Robotech 2 the Sentinels PS2 game made, that would be cool!! The fact that Sentinels folded rather rapidly when they tried to make it tends to minimze the chance of that happening. Shadow Chronicles takes the spot Sentinels would've occupied in the timeline. But with Robotech: Invasion having done so miserably, odds are that there won't be another Robotech game. So we can all go back to importing and/or pirating REAL Macross games, and laughing at Southern Cross and MOSPEADA fans.
