PET CBM 4032 computers - Any interest?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My workplace is closing down. In the back storage area there are 3 or 4 PET CBM 4032 computers. I do not know if they are in working order. I would certainly clean them up some and plug them in an see if they work if anyone is interested. They are slated to be scrapped. I will send one or more to you for the price of shipping. Let me know.

Cheers!

Hello,

I have received PMs from 3 people. As I told them, I will be out of town for work for a week. I will be back on the 10th and I will determine if any of them are working. At that point I will offer a working unit (if any) to those who have asked in the order they have asked. I am glad to save these computers from the scrap pile.

Cheers!

Am I allowed to reminisce in someone else's thread? I fished one of those things out of a trash bin back in college in 1987 when I was 18 years old and traded it to an upperclassman for a very large bottle of cheap vodka. And the thing did work.

Ah the memories.

I used a PET 2001 with built-in tape deck many years ago.

Hmm... The tape deck looks right, but I swear the one I used had the same keyboard as the PET 4000. I don't recall those ugly little keys.

For what its worth,

I assumed it to be about 25X25X25 boxed and around 60 pounds. From Rochester to Raleigh shipping from UPS would be around 30, plus whatever somebody would charge to package it for the trip.

Love to have one too, and I assumed shipping here would be less. I just can't do it, I have NO room for one :)

I got my first computer programming experience on a Pet computer at school - I actually tried to write a Pinball game for it though it never worked :)

Favorite thing the jocks would like to do

10 PRINT"JOEY IS DUMB"

20 GOTO 10

:)

Yeah, I started my first computing experience on a PET CBM2001. I think it was around 1980 or so. Our grade 7 computer lab had about six or eight of 'em, along with a few Apple IIs in another room. Them's were the days...
