jpfalcon2003 #1 Posted April 12, 2006 Is this system a better one to buy than the regular 2600 system. Is the junior compatible with all the games, including the new homebrews out there along with the reproduction cartridges. I was thinking of maybe getting one of these and the 2600 Jr. caught my interest more because of the more compact design. I would appreciate any advice on the topic. AtticGamer #2 Posted April 12, 2006 The 2600 Jr. is the same system in a different case. All games are compatible with it. Oh yea it looks nice!

It does look cool and in a better case, but I heard there was compatibility problems with just a few 2600 games. Like 3 or so. Didn't know which ones, or if it was any I had. D.Yancey #4 Posted April 12, 2006 I've heard of compatibility problems between heavy sixers and games like River Raid II, but the junior seems to play them all. My junior is my favorite system.
gameprogram #5 Posted April 12, 2006 I got a Jr on eBay some time ago. It saves on space but I like the woodies more for visual effect, so it's in my "extra" box-o-crap from lots.
JagFan422 #6 Posted April 12, 2006 I tend to not use my Junior to often, i find that the switches are harder to get to register than my 4 switcher or heavy 6, also, its easier to fry with the old style, but that just might be my Junior, it looks to be in good shape, but might not be. Know you can fry on the ols style but don't know if you can on the junior.

Thanks for the info. You helped me make my decision. If I decide to pick up a 2600, it'll be the junior.
bLUEbYTE #9 Posted April 16, 2006 (edited) If I remember correctly I read in this forum that Jr's TV output quality was inferior to that of the VCS, is this true? If it is true, by how much? Is there a big difference? Edited April 16, 2006 by bLUEbYTE

Is there a big difference? If this is true, I have certainly never noticed it.
Lord Thag #11 Posted April 16, 2006 If I remember correctly I read in this forum that Jr's TV output quality was inferior to that of the VCS, is this true? If it is true, by how much? Is there a big difference? There is a slight difference in quality, mainly due to the fact that a heavy sixer has heavier RF shielding. The older system tends to have a very slightly better picture. I have both, and I prefer the sixer, but really, it's a very slight difference and doesn't effect gameplay at all.
