This is pretty cool - (about the boards sold at AA)

Recommended Posts

I just found this out after wanting to put the NTSC version of Imagic's 'Wing War' on an actual cart:

With only a little modification to the cartridge case, the boards sold here at AA will fit in an Imagic cart!

(I don't know if anybody tried this before so forgive me if it's common knowlegde):

I should of taken pictures of the insides before I closed it, but I didn't think about posting this until after I completed it :-/

It just involves removing some extra plastic to make room for the AA circuit board. (Pretty easy to figure out; just keep removing the plastic that gets in the way of the board sitting correctly until you can close the cart). The two screw columns act as an anchor so the board doesn't move. Cool!

That's nice! Do you have a socketed board in there (just wondering about the clearance). That's a good repo to do as well. One day I gotta pick up an eprom burner.

I didn't put a socketed board in that one, but I *think* one will actually fit... Need to try it...

Bob,

You can also do the same with Parker Bros & Xonox cases too!! I'll show off my Parker Bros in a bit. It's sounds like the imagic ones are alot easier to do than the parker ones though. You should giv e aprker bros one a shot.

Don't worry. I've been here posting for four years, and was lurking long before that and I *still* act like a n00b.

Lol! :D

Well I Need Some More Help it seems

what commom $1 cart should i get from 8-bit classics that i can easily use for a case for project eprom (it has to be ATARI!)

i need one that has a regular part where the contacts are (i mean no dust protector thingy you'd find in a combat or a battlezone)

tonight i'm ordering every thing except the eprom from AA for A 4K cart

i might as well tell you about my project anyway:

(Sorry For Sorta Hijacking The Thread! :D )

heres a textish diagram i made

post-8905-1145148750_thumb.png

the prototype will not have the hole in the cart right away

first i'll burn a eprom of lets say...

missile command or pepsi invaders (AKA: Coke Wins)

and i'll test it out my friend atari on the 22nd using the new cartridge

ok!

@josh: So your saying all your doing is socketing a board and cutting a hole in the shell right? :ponder:

@all: I just did a Coleco case to hold an AA board. It wasn't that difficult. Just gotta trim the clearance from the screw plastic posts and clear out the excess pastic under & above where the EPROM ends up in the shell.

Don't use a scoket use a ZIF it will make your life alot easier. I have the same type of deal for all the ATARI systems for when I'm testing out EPROMs to make sure they are burned correct or to play my WIPs without having to soldier that chip down.
