jpfalcon2003 #1 Posted April 17, 2006 There really weren't that many to choose from for some systems, but I wanted to see what other's opinions were on these games. 2600: Basketball (I am so glad that I was fortunate enough not to have grown up with this awful version. This version was just plain sad.) Realsports Basketball (this was released a couple years ago. I've seen the screenshots and it is a big improvement over the original, but I think it could have been better still. I also heard the contorols weren't too good with the game. Double Dunk: (Boy this game has it all. The list of options were very impressive. The graphics and the music blew me away. It is more comparable with the sports series of the Super era, such as super Football) 5200: Realsports Basketball (there is a version on the 128 in one multicart that I have for the 5200. I'm assuming it was a 5200 prototype. I haven't played a full game on it yet, so I won't make a decision till I play it. the other games on the multicart have me occupied at the moment. i will have to say that I think the graphics are impressive. Don't know about the gameplay. 7800: Basketbrawl (not only are the graphics some of the best i've seen for the system, it is basketball with a twist. You also get to play in different scenes. It kinda reminds me of Ninja Golf. I would have to say for me that if i wanted to play a more realistic basketball game, i'd pick double dunk. If I wanted to have some fun doing lots of different things and playing sports, I'd pick Basketbrawl. Overall, I like these 2 pretty much about the same. It would be which one I'd be in the mood for that day to play.

jpfalcon2003 #3 Posted April 17, 2006 You forgot One-on-One. You right. I did forget about that one. i guess because i rarely play that one. That one is good too however. The sound is okay, but the graphics really could have been alot better on this one for the 7800. Especially since it is one of the Super cartridge series ones. The NES graphics on this same game literally makes the 7800 one look like crap, but unfortunately, the NES one's gameplay is just terrible on that one. I would prefer Double Dunk and Basketbrawl over this one. It dosen't really hold up as one of the true super carts like Ballblazer, that's for sure. Rob Mitchell #4 Posted April 19, 2006 2600: Basketball (I am so glad that I was fortunate enough not to have grown up with this awful version. This version was just plain sad.) Huh! It rocks! 1978 great one-on-one sweaty palm goodness! Just try to beat the computer player! It hangs out while you try to catch up .. then it cleans your clock as you tie its score! Lord Helmet #5 Posted April 19, 2006 2600 Basketball is actually alot of fun. As Rob said, the cpu will kick your butt untill you get good at it. Playing against a freind that is as good as you, and it is even better.
+else #6 Posted April 19, 2006 I like 2600 basketball too. It has quite a bit of charm to it....
Cap5750 #7 Posted April 26, 2006 I always liked the original 2600 Basketball too. Eventually, after finding out not to have the ball stolen from me when in a close game on high difficulty, I started playing games like this: 1. Allow computer 2 - 0 start and try to come back. 2. Allow computer 4 - 0 start and try to come back. At one time, I was up somewhere in the 20s.
Lord Thag #8 Posted April 27, 2006 (edited) The original 2600 Basketball is still fun, if rather basic and cheesy. I just picked up double dunk recently. It's an amazingly good b-ball game for the 2600. I give it my vote. Edited April 27, 2006 by Lord Thag
Crazy Climber #9 Posted April 27, 2006 2600 Basketball is the only one I own so I guess it wins by default, I like playing it versus people. Gonna have to give Double Dunk a try after reading this.
Cousin Vinnie #10 Posted April 27, 2006 I take most everyone hasn't played Basketbrawl. That game is beyond great. Vinnie
