Most powerful = probably PS3. Cell's a monster of a chip.

I'll buy a Rev.

Advantages =

Sony and MS have more powerful machines than Nintendo.

Sony has the Playstation name.

Microsoft has a headstart.

Nintendo is aiming to undercut everyone on price. Possibly by a massive amount.

MS has experience with XBox Live from the first XBox.

Nintendo has a lot of legacy software they can leverage.

Sony has f'ing huge amounts of storage space on their disks.

Nintendo has a unique controller(which may be detrimental instead of beneficial, but I'm being an optimist. We'll see how things turn out later.).

Some other stuff I missed.

Nothing is ever so simple as "X is more powerful than Y".

Each will have their respective strengths and weaknesses.

I agree.

And the only strength that really matters is gameplay. So like all console wars before, it's purely subjective ;)

weve still yet to see anything solid from nintendo or sony. but i wont buy any console for more than 200 dollars, so from the looks of things, ill probably end up buying a revolution before a 360 or PS3.

ill just use the time to snatch current gen deals :)

The Xbox 360 is an awesome system, I'm hooked on it like I was a little kid again. The achievements are a huge incentive for me to keep playing a game instead of letting it sit on a shelf. Sony has already said they will do something similar with the PS3. Not sure about Nintendo but Nintendo has a coolest gimmick in that new controller. I'd imagine most people (gamers) cannot wait to try that out.

In any case, There will be one big winner after all 3 systems are released..... Us

Amen to that.

I'm looking forward to getting a Revolution and an XBox 360. Here are the advantages and disadvatages that were important to me as I see them (and very few people will agree with me):

Revolution: Complete backwards compatability with Cube library (big plus for me), new controller that will probably generate a lot of press, back catelog for sale, some great Nintendo franchises online for the first time (or first time on a console), cheapest system, if there are early bugs Nintendo has awesome customer service.

Xbox 360: Will likely have a sizable library of great games by the time the other systems even hit (it's already well on the way), almost undoubtably the best online service/community, Xbox live arcade, price drop during PS3 launch almost a definite, Halo 3, likely new Crimson Skies, ports of computer games that my computer can't run, all the bugs will be worked out when the other systems are still getting their first reports of "overheating issues".

PS3 (remember these are the things keeping me from buying it): Buying it constitutes aiding Sony in pushing Blue-Ray for movies (which I am utterly opposed to), will likely be more expensive than the other systems for its entire life (considering it launches so much later than the 360 and that the Revolution will be cheaper to begin with), Sony doesn't have a lot of console specific franchises that I have to have (not like, say, Halo, Crimson Skies, Ninja Gaiden, Pikmin, Mario Kart, and Metroid).

Honestly, for me, the Xbox 360 doesn't really have enough interesting games for me to invest in one yet. Neither does the PSP. I think i'll wait until a year or two after each console comes out to properly judge the benefits and disadvantages of each. A year or two will give the next-gen consoles time to build up their libraries with more games i'd like. First wave games are usually kind of weak, i'd like to see the second and third wave of games for each console before passing judgement.

There was a picture floating around the net supposedly from some official Nintendo presentation with a "Nintendo GO" logo. Not sure if the pic was proven a fake or not, but as far as I know Nintendo hasn't really released anything official regarding the name.

Everything is still up for grabs. With two of the systems not even fully in the race it is impossible to know who will be most powerfull. Or if it even matters. I am looking forward to the Revolution more then the PS3. I will own all three but so far the 360 games on offer don't make me want to run out and buy one. As for Sony with the PS3, Let me see some REAL games and a REAL PRICE and then I will decide. Sony didn't live up to their own hype with the PS2 and the odds are good that they won't with the PS3.

PS2 didn't win this generation with power as they were easily the least powerfull of the three. Remember the hype with the Emotion Engine? :D

It's all about the games.

How many people that post to gaming forums actually only buy one anyway. I won't get them all at the same time right a release but eventually I will.

I see these which is better things posted all the time are they just trying to start flame wars or something.

Engadget said the nintendo go thing was a fake they found the logo in use for something else and someone just stuck nintendo on it.

In power, in terms of graphics power it should be ps 3. The games are made for hd only.

As overall I can't say. Games will decide that for each system.

Most people don't have a HDTV. The PS3 and 360 are using a lot of their power to display the HD signal. That is how the Revolution will have games that look just as good even if it is underpowered.

To my understanding Microsoft wants games to be for hd and not hd for the 360. Sony just wants to cater to the hd owners. I picked ps 3 because it will look better on hd. This is from a hd prospective only with graphics.

People like me who don't have hd, this not an issue in power and I don't know from a technical stand point without hd yet.

when the topic was created It thought it meant for a technical standpoint.

Power means absolutely nothing. The current gen can make almost photorealistic graphics so the next gen's progress will be measured in baby steps, just look at the 360, you wouldn't know that they were 'next gen' unless you have a really expensive TV and someone told you.

Besides if you look at history power has had very little to do with a system's sucess or failure. The NES was less powerful than the SMS and Atari 7800, the Gameboy was less powerful than the Game Gear, Lynx and Neo Geo Pocket, the SNES and Genesis were less powerful than the Neo Geo, Jaguar and 3DO, the PS1 was less powerful than the N64, the PS2 was less powerful than the Cube and X Box, and the DS is less powerful than the PSP.

As far who I think will win the next generation I'll go with the Revolution, it's hard to argue against innovation and affordability.

MS is doing the same thing. While all games will run at 480i, they are hardly optimized for it(King Kong is actually unplayable at that res). PS3 will be multi-res too. HD sets don't have a wide enough user base yet, and even among the ones that do, there's a wide bit of variaton as to what their actual max res is.

Nintendo will be the most powerful to me because the Revolution is going to kick some serious ass (I think Reggie said something like that last E3) anyways I cant wait, Nintendo will be #1 again, bring on the Revolution, Long live Nintendo!

The GO thing was proven to be a hoax. Someone actually found the logo that was used in the image as belonging to another company. The most system power will be the PS3 - however, given that many games will be focused on high-def for the PS3 and 360 it's very likely for those of us on standard def that the graphics between all 3 will be very similar.

Cant wait for the PS3. Its my gaming heaven.

I'm also interested in the Nintendo system because me and Nintendo go a ways back. :)

Although the same can be said these days with Playstation....

I have a 360 and the only thing I play on it is Oblivion. I'm not impressed by the system, graphically..yes its sweet but other than that I felt like I was robbed of 400 hundred dollars. (Xbox Live is a huge improvement but I never use it other than downloading content)
