Whats your collection center piece?

Recommended Posts

Hey 2600 Fans,

I was wondering what some of your collection center pieces were. It doesnt necessarily have to be just one game, it could maybe be a complete set of somthing or maybe not even a game at all. Basicly whatever you think is your coolest stuff. Due to starting a little later than most I dont have alot of rare games so I would say this is mine

Atari 2600-Heavy sixer (with game center)

Assault (NTSC)-loose

Cakewalk-Loose

I think it would be intresting to see what people value the most in there collections. Thanks.

Hmm, in my whole video game collection...

If I had to sum it up in one item, it would be the Commodore 1701 video monitor. That's probably not a particularly valuable piece, but it is certainly my most used.

Best games are probably Tank Command, Virtual On, and perhaps Zelda V.

In the 2600 group, my "ceterpieces" are the dirt common, mega fun games like Yars' Revenge. I've got that in the Sears Picture label. I might be getting a deal on a remake of Activision 2 soon, though, then that'll be the centerpiece by far.

I also own one of these monitors and I love it, I never thought of it as a center piece but now that I think about it people always say something about it when they see it, I've even had a few people offer me cash for it. ( I would have made a nice profit from the $3.00 I payed for it )

Hmm, 2600 wise would be Motorodeo (complete), SQ Waterworld, Bumper Bash, and a bunch of rarer games like Tomarc, Lancelot, Mater builder, Video Cube, Xenophobe and the like.

My intellivision collection is pretty big, with a lot of rares.

My centerpiece is probably my Apple IIgs Woz edition with all the bells and whistles.

Assuming my room of doom actually HAS acenter of course... :ponder:

The first thing most people tend to notice is my BurgerTime coin-op sitting in the corner next to my Jag and Vectrex collection (which is now mixing in GBA and DS titles). Then they focus on the 45" tv, which really is the focal point of the room (currently it has a PS2 hooked up, before that it was typically the Jag, but I've had everything from a 2600 thru the FB 2.0). I can't really point to any one thing with my video games in terms of a mega-prized title, but I'm happy that most of my games are CIB. Generally friends who come over are just stoked about playing some Combat, Frogger, Yars' Revenge, or whatever their favorite title is. Yeah, they could just get an emulator and the ROMs, but having the actual hardware and carts seems to be the major attraction.

Atari 7800 Combat 1990 can be purchased from Lance over at Video 61. It is the 1990 updated version of Combat with lots of new twists. great game. Fun too. The only problem with it is the sound isn't good. To be expected on the 7800 though right.

That's more that I paid--mine was given to me. I call it the centerpiece 'cause it's always in use when I'm playing console games. Without it, I might not be playing at all.

Not too many people come in here, but some of those that do recognize either the 2600 game or the monitor. Seems as if the PS2 sitting on top of it is nearly invisible.

I'd never sell it unless I was gonna lose it anyway, then I'd wanna make sure it went somewhere the it would be used. If it ever breaks, you bet I'm coming up with the cash ot have it fixed--forget replacing it. I imagine even the biggest repair for it wouldn't cost over $300.

Still, though, so far so good. I've got a bike, plenty of games, and a microwave oven that are also that old, and they all work great.

I got a lot of boxed games but I don't think they are centerpieces. I would say my 2600 that I had as a kid. There is a picture of Nolan's autograph here on page 11.

If I had to pick a game, maybe my Quadrun prototype that Steve signed? I can tell you if I had to grab a few boxes and run, I'd grab Video Life and my 5 Atari club titles.
