+else #1 Posted April 20, 2006 (edited) Anybody know anything about the Destroyer proto that was just auctioned off on eBay? I bid it up pretty high, and only lost out by a couple of dollars (darn!). Here's the link: Coleco Destroyer proto My first thought is that it eventually became Destructor, but the seller seems to think it was an Adam game. Perhaps Super Subroc? King_Salamon #2 Posted April 20, 2006 I think someone mentioned that Destroyer was an early name for Destructor... perhaps I read it in a Coleco FAQ

Dont feel too bad about losing the auction,If the game is indeed destructor, under a different name, because I have bid on destructor on ebay as well and won,the game didn't impress me much, all you do is gather crystals with a bulldozer like vehicle. King_Salamon #4 Posted April 20, 2006 I really liked Destructor all those years ago... not sure how it holds up today but it's much like many classic titles. If you enjoyed it then, you will enjoy it somewhat today (perhaps the memories add to the fondness) As for paying 200 clams for a prototype of this... I dunno. It would have to be somewhat different and be a REAL FUN MEMORY to enjoy!

It would have to be somewhat different and be a REAL FUN MEMORY to enjoy! Well if it was really just an early version of Destructor then you really missed out on nothing. I am not a proto collector but the most I would pay would be $50 for one of my favorite titles like Ladybug or Pepper II. However if it was an unreleased game then it would certainly be worth $200 but I kinda of get the feeling that the winner is going to be really dissapointed with what he gets. +else #6 Posted April 20, 2006 I was hoping it was a proto of some lost game, but was fearing it would turn out to just be Destructor (I'm not a big fan of Destructor). There's so few Colecovision protos around that I get excited when one finally does pop up. Anyhow, had I won I would have tried to get it dumped to share with everyone. Maybe the winner will do the same....
