turbo express screen?

i got a turbo express today, but can't get any games to come up on the screen. all i get is a black screen. i can hear the game in the headphones, but not the speaker. and i try to turn up or down the brightness of the screen and it doesn't adjust. does this mean i have a worthless turbo express, or does anyone know what i could do to try and fix it. thanks for your help!

ok, got sound out of the speaker

but still only the black screen. it is illuminated, just not showing picture.

I was going to suggest that the backlight could be dead...but if the screen isn't showing any picture at all...and is lit...ack...you could be in trouble.

 

Either way, I consider you a lucky devil...I always wanted an Express to tinker with/repair...

 

Edit: What I mean to say that if it isn't something really obvious...and the games are playing...it sounds like there's something screwed up on the inside...which makes things tricky...to say the least.
