8th lutz #1 Posted April 23, 2006 Back 1990, I Played Double Dragon and the character I playing disappeared from the screen on the first level. The time was still running and enemies were still on screen. This actually happened, and I remembered it happening. I press down on the proline and that was how the character disappeared. It never happened to since me since. I have been playing it on a regular basis since 1991.
Trip_Cannon #2 Posted April 24, 2006 Something like that could have happened... I don't know.. the last time I've actively played that game was when I was 11 years old...
8th lutz #3 Posted April 24, 2006 (edited) I got a very good memory for remembering the past. I beaten the game over 10 times. A few works after that happened the Double Dragon cart wouldn't work for weeks and I put it in correctly. It work fine again. JagFan422 #4 Posted April 24, 2006 not 7800 related, but double dragon 2 at the end of the first level, just before the final boss if you walked to the lower right corner in between the two rails that go straigt up, you could walk up the rails off screen so you would be gone but everything else is still going on. 7800Lover #5 Posted April 24, 2006 I own the game and I never saw this happen before.
82-T/A #6 Posted April 25, 2006 Is Double Dragon on the 7800 as good as it is on the NES? That game was pretty awesome. I have it for the NES and seriously... it's got to be one of my favorite games for that system next to Dragon Warrior and Jackal

The nes is indeed great despite not being like the arcade version. The 7800 version is closer to the arcade then the nes. It's music isn't accurate to the arcade along with not all the moves and weapons being there. I think the 7800 version is not as good as the nes. As a true Arcade port, the 7800 version is not as good as the genesis or the sms. Edited April 25, 2006 by 8th lutz
DracIsBack #8 Posted April 25, 2006 Is Double Dragon on the 7800 as good as it is on the NES? As a port of the arcade game, the 7800 version is closer. No need to "earn moves", you can play two-player simultanious and the levels follow the arcade. That said, the NES version is way more polished than the 7800 version, which looks rushed, IMO. The graphics are much sharper overall and the collision detection is better. And of course, the sound is better. The only thing that annoys me about the NES is that dumb cave level. I liked both in the end, though I wish that they'd spent more time on the 7800 one and that the guys who did Commando and KLAX (Blue Sky Software) also did DD as the results would have been better. One thing about 7800 DD too is that once you figure out a few moves -- the reverse jump kick and the head butt -- the game is easy to beat. The AI of the enemies seems as rushed as the graphics and it's sometimes easy to back your enemies into corners and things where they can be destroyed. My 2 cents. Trip_Cannon #10 Posted April 25, 2006 The 7800 version of Double Dragon was very cool.... to have on the 7800... But yeah, it's not quite up to par with other conversions... There are some moves missing and some animations... who else is bothered by the fact that Abobo doesn't smash out of the walls?
DracIsBack #11 Posted April 26, 2006 who else is bothered by the fact that Abobo doesn't smash out of the walls? Totally. And that's one of my gripes about it. I did find the game fun and got lotsa play out of it, but it seemed rushed. No Abobos jumping out of walls, no animation on the conveyer belt, no flying blocks, no spears. Just little details that they dropped to get it out the door.
Lauren Tyler #12 Posted May 1, 2006 Well, in spite of all the flaws, you have to give them credit for trying. It's not as bad as the 2600 version!

I gave the 2600 developers credit too -- it looked good for a 2600 game. It was just damn hard! Those enemies really kicked you when you were down! Classic Pac #14 Posted May 3, 2006 The game is buggy at best. There was a time when I was playing the game and as I was battling mid level 2 boss the game totally froze on me. Just put it up to one of those things that happen with 7800 games.

Do you mean NES Double Dragon I? nope, because its right before the boss with the mask, which is Double Dragon II first boss, when you kill him he disappears and his mask falls. He's up on top a building, but before you go up, there's a wall to the right and a garage door where some enemies come out. On the wall to the right there are two rails that are parallel to each other that run straight up. If you go to the very bottom right, you can go between the rails, right up and off the screen. 7800Lover #17 Posted May 8, 2006 To me, the 7800 Double Dragon is better than the NES version. While the NES wins hands down in the graphics and sound department, the 7800 port is much closer to the original gameplay-wise.

The NES flickers horribly and has really blocky backdrops so don't think its better in that dept either, its also only one player which sucks.

The_Laird #20 Posted May 10, 2006 That is very true! Thing is that it would look really great without it and the flickering just ruins the whole game. 7800 version is still my fave 8-bit version and could have been better!
