RSS Bot #1 Posted April 25, 2006 Hi there! Yup, here it is, Graftgolds only serious console game: The Ottifants Programming: Kevin Holloway Graphics: John W. Lilley, John Kershaw Evolution: Two Graftgold Jump'n'Runs in a row! Well this, in its core, isn't that much different from Fire & Ice. You control an Ottifant instead of a coyote, who can shoot little colored balls through his nose. And this time we're collecting small hm... "haribo" Ottifants(?) instead of key parts. They work all the same though, you need to collect a certain percentage to open the final door. There's also a smaller subquest, making you collect newspaper articles spread throughout the whole game. Unlike Fire & Ice, this one seems to be aimed at children. It is very easy, giving you 9 lives and passwords, while it's rather small at the same time, with only 5 major levels, having 3 substages plus a boss stage each. The artwork is ok for the Master System, the scrolling is a touch too jumpy for my taste - and the music is horrible. Fun in 2006: Well, unlike Fire & Ice, this isn't really challenging. The level design is rather straightforward than tricky, the enemies are easy to avoid, the presentation is only average. Typical licence job I'd say. It's also rather small, I beat the whole game in 3 hours without any cheating. (Using Auto-Fire for the End-Bosses though.) I definitely won't buy it for my collection Note: I'll have another look at the Genesis version. Should it be significantly different or improved, I might post a 2nd entry for it.
