Who collects Nintendo Game & Watch hand helds?

Recommended Posts

Hey, just got my first Nintendo Game & Watch off of ebay (Mario Bros., got it for $14.00 because it doesn't have a battery cover, and the seller didn't know if it works, I'm keeping my fingers crossed). Anybody else collect these? And in relation to my previous statement about not knowing if it works, are these little things pretty tough (like the good 'ol 2600)?

I have a couple of these (Super Mario Bros, Squish, DK and DK Jr). They seem to hold up well, though finding replacement batteries for them can sometimes prove to be difficult.

Replacement batteries? don't they just take the little ones? You know, the tiny silver ones?

I have quite a large number of them (as well as several other handhelds) from when I was a kid and wouldn't mind getting into 'collecting' them and trying to get ones I don't have

Yes. They are pretty durable.. more or less.

They take small watch batteries (CR8???) but I've found these to be very difficult to find in stores. Most Wal-mart and Radio shacks don't have them.

They are pretty durable, but I found that my Squish game's screen has started to form tiny bubbles (kind of like when you don't put contact paper onto a surface incorrectly)on the top screen. The bottom screen is fine. The game still plays fine but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced the screen bubble effect?

I've got a few of those laying around somewhere. Probably. I'll have to look.

It'd be cool if those FF watches were playable. LCD action! I guess that type of gaming doesn't have any real place today, though. I did see a few LCD games at the store the other day. All of them were generic (Cyber Fighter? Looks like basic street fighting to me), except for one game by Tiger. I was surprised that they were still making stuff, but whatever.

Super Mario Bros. (New Wide, I don't like Crystalscreen) is definitely coming next. I've always wanted that one, just couldn't find it back then. After that? Maybe Zelda, Popeye, or Donkey Kong.

They aren't available in stores anymore since they were discontinued ages ago. You'll have to look through used game stores and ebay to get one.
