frax #1 Posted May 2, 2006 OK, I bought some thingies of ebay and seller doesn't accept PayPal or direct transfer. Money order is the only option left which would cost me about $20 and a few hours to/from the bank which I don't have. So, if anyone in the US can buy and send the MO for me I will PayPal you the amount + $20, in advance of course PM me if you can help... /frax
Classic Pac #2 Posted May 3, 2006 I hate to say this but it sounds like a scam
AtariJr #3 Posted May 3, 2006 yea thats what i was thinking... and even with the 20 bucks in advance its like, well is there something they are going to do with that money order that could link back to me? ... and you can wait for days to see a response on a forum and wait for us to ship it but you cant take a 5 min drive to a bank?..... yea, def sounds iffy... Nimtene #4 Posted May 4, 2006 Personally, I have no doubts about the sincerity and best intentions of Frax. Just because you live five minutes from a bank, AtariJr, it doesn't mean everyone does. As he clearly states, it would take him HOURS to get to and from a bank. It is clearly not convenient for him, so he has asked for help. I see no fault in that. I would help him in a heartbeat, and I have offered, but due to circumstances I don't care to discuss, I am unable to.
shirleysswapshop #5 Posted May 4, 2006 (edited) Well, I am not sure..seeing that you can buy Money Orders from almost any 7-11, Small Grocery Stores, Western Union Internet ect..so it is not that hard to buy one.. Nimtene #6 Posted May 4, 2006 (edited) Have you ever been to Sweden? Do they even have 7-11 there? And if they did, who's to say there's even one near Frax? Point being, living in the US, we come to take many aspects of our life for granted. And we assume life is exactly the same everywhere, for everyone. Without knowing Frax personally, and where he lives, we really can't know. To assume he has access to all the same 'conveniences' as us, is crazy. shirleysswapshop #7 Posted May 4, 2006 Have you ever been to Sweden?Do they even have 7-11 there? I might be wrong...never been there..but it still seems strange to me..what was the auction number?
shirleysswapshop #8 Posted May 4, 2006 (edited) Why are you getting bent out of shape? If you feel so strongly about this..why can't you get a MO for him..? However with all of the scams that are going on.. one never knows..If you don't know the person..is $20.00 worth the risk? Not to me it isn't! Atari-Jess #11 Posted May 4, 2006 This sounds just like one of the requests I've made in the past, and I certainly didn't scam anyone.
shirleysswapshop #12 Posted May 4, 2006 Well..depending on the cost of the items.. if I can get a signed poster of the Swedish Bikini Modeling Team.. I might even just buy and ship for him..without the extra $20.

frax #18 Posted May 7, 2006 Me, a scam? Nah, hell no. C'mon been a menber since 2001 and was a member on the old Nexus site to. Done several trades with loads of people here and is on the recomended list. Yes, I live in Sweden where banking opening hours sucks and international MOs are expensive. Auction numbers are #8274983521 and 8274979421. An my eBay is 100% positive. Nimtene did offer to help but he's PayPal dosn't accept CCs. Anyway, problem has probably been solved thanks to a welknown AA member. /frax
shadow460 #19 Posted May 8, 2006 I've been to other countries, and they don't have the same conveniences we do. Try finding a 7-11 on the wrong street of Baharain, and you aren't coming back. I've also had MO concerns with trading here, too. Some sellers don't have a way of cashing a non postal money order, and most USA money orders are not accpeted outside the States (postal being the exception, sometimes.).
