vectrex bag cleaning

I got this bag with my vectrex about two months ago.

it's kind of dirty and needs to be cleaned.

how should I go about doing this.

Depends on the material - Is that vinyl? canvas?

it seems like it may have sat in water at some point

since those spots on the back appear to be mold stains.

 

from what I can tell these bags seem to be kinda rare,

so I would like it to look it's best.

You won't get those stains out..

bleach. And if it doesn't work, try peroxide and ammonia mixed together. Mix them 1:1:5 with water. Use it right away. The Exothermic reaction may help. The ammonia will release the bond of the dirt and mold from the material, and the peroxide will bleach it out.

 

Don't worry, it won't explode. We use this to clean silicon, albiet at higher concentrations than you can find at the drugstore.

 

Test it on similar material first. Don't know what it will do the fabric.

That looks a lot like one that I bought and sold on eBay several years ago. When I bought it I had no clue how bad the condition was. I took a loss when I sold it. I couldn't get it cleaned.

well, it's more like a nylon type

than a cloth type canvass.

so I could try dry cleaning.

 

I thought about bleach but,

I don't want the logo to fade.

I might the peroxide-amonia idea,

that sounds like it could work.

 

I got this for $30.00 with my

I don't think that I'll sell it.

I like it too much to give it up.

To get out the mold stains, you can carefully use oxy clean spot remover, but before you do, test a small area inside the bag in an inconspicuous place to make sure it will not overclean. Even if you don't get it cleaned, that is an awesome bag. Wish I had one.
