A.J. Franzman #2 Posted May 8, 2006 (edited) Send them all to me. The 7800 controller port is an easy fix, as is the loose Gemini power jack (if it's just loose and not broken). The heavy sixer probably needs the buffer IC replaced, and they're usually not socketed, so this is probably the most difficult repair. If you can take the circuit boards out of the cases and still pack them safely, the reduced weight might save you some of the shipping costs. I normally charge $10 per unit, plus cost of parts (common inexpensive stuff like resistors, small capacitors, wire, etc. are free) plus cost of return shipping. In this case, if the 2 simple repairs really are as simple as they sound I'll do them at half price. Also, you can pay me by barter instead of cash if you have anything I want [EDITED] - see the first link in my signature. PM me for more details. Edited February 6, 2007 by A.J. Not a commercial, I don't know him and he has never done any work for me but if he is willing to do the work I think that is the way to go especially given the price. I have done joystick ports on a 7800 myself. No huge deal but I would charge more than 10 bucks labor. Then again, I am not the fastest with an iron...still kind of feeling it all out. D.Yancey #4 Posted May 8, 2006 Franzman knows his stuff and is trustworthy. It's worth letting him do it if you're not really comfortable fixing them yourself.
omne #5 Posted May 11, 2006 Yup, at the price Franzman just offered you, you couldn't do it yourself for less!
