NovaXpress #26 Posted May 12, 2006 There are many people who love classic games but will never take the time to find old working consoles and scrounge up carts. They'll play the oldies, but only if delivered in a convenient modern package. The old NES and Genesis games are a selling point outside of the classic gaming circle. MCHufnagel #27 Posted May 12, 2006 The manager at my local Game Crazy feels that prices for old carts will take a nosedive. Maybe then I can afford Chrono Trigger! But it could have the exact opposite affect. Once people play the older games, they just might want original equipment. But to be honest, I'll be glad to pack at least some of my stuff up and just play them all on one console.

I am just getting a snes for the second time.. im not quite sure i want to get rid of that , esp with all the games i just bought... maybe in the future if they start to put those good rps up that everyone wants 50 bucks for like your Chrono, or Mario RPG... hell FF2 and 3 would be very nice as well... This is your opinion and it's a valid assumtion based on the retro collections we have been seeing. But...it remains to be seen. It's also possible most casual gamer have gotten their "fix" these past couple years because...they haven't had to scrounge up anything. $30 at a Target or a flea market and the itch was sedated months ago. I'm not saying it wont take off...I hope it does...I hope Nintendo has an online plan for sure. I wouldn't bank on it just yet though.
Shawn #30 Posted May 12, 2006 (edited) Finally a new console that doesn't need a payment plan to buy. I keep hearing the 200 dollar price of the Rev and it's music to my ears. This is the first new console I will buy at launch sence the SNES. It is also the first console I am actually child-like excited about in a long time. Last one I got all excited for was the NES at christmas of 85. Took'em 20 years but they have done it agian, totally changing the face of gaming all over agian IMO. And I actually yelled out loud when I saw the clip of Rayman 4. I hope to god it's a launch title cause at the price the Rev is I might actually be able to afford to buy a game when I get the system and not break the bank. Thank You Nintendo!!! moycon #31 Posted May 12, 2006 Does anyone know when pre-orders for the Wii will be starting? We definately need to jump on it THAT DAY.
AtariJr #32 Posted May 12, 2006 Gamestop is going to call people who ask them for a researve when they start... so ask them to call you, and then youll be one of the first to researve it.
moycon #33 Posted May 12, 2006 I just realized. The Wii is just the Nintendo Flashback. You have the regular disc games it will play which is basically the Gamecube and the ability to emulate and download all Nintendos past systems. Its definately a retro gamers dream come true. Well except it remains to be seen how many retro 3rd party games we get.

I hate to give large corporations interest-free loans, so I rarely reserve or pre-order. And then seeing how MS screwed up with the small number of initial units makes me cringe. I do feel that the PS3 will sell out it's initial shipments because of the people who need the latest and greatest. But do you really think that the Wii will need to be pre-ordered to make sure you get one?

Atarifever #36 Posted May 12, 2006 Wii owner: Oh look now I can play Mario 64 on my N64 AND my Wii isn't that great?Smart person : Umm why would you want to? Wii owner : Ummmm because...Ummmm..Not sure really...but I can. There's one conversation that would go differently though: Wii owner: Oh look, I'm playing Megaman 2 on the Wii? Other person: Well, I'm playing it on my NES. Wii owner: I'm fighting Quickman; what level are you on? Other person: Umm, blinking screen. *blows into cartridge* Still blinking screen *starts scraping the cart along the front of the slot* Still blinking screen *blows into cartridge*, etc. *Wii owner finishes game*
Bivotar #37 Posted May 12, 2006 This clip shows quite a few interesting things about the Wii. Playing Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii at E3 It gives a good glimpse of how the Wii remote is used to play a game like Super Mario Galaxy. But one of the big things that caught my eye was that the Wii retro controller is attached to the remote, so it is effectively a wireless controller! Pretty handy. It also shows how the demo unit was set up at that end of that looooooong waiting line to play.
BydoEmpire #38 Posted May 12, 2006 The line to play the Wii: In past years I waited in line for the Halo 2 trailer. The Doom 3 demo. Socom's online demo. Numberous Nintendo offerings. And even put together, they're not as long as the the line for the Wii. Crazy!
Atarifever #39 Posted May 12, 2006 (edited) One thing about the Wii that I think it's safe to say already, it certainly looks fashionable. That display looks like an Mac store. I think it's more like the wi-pod Edited May 12, 2006 by Atarifever
Atarifever #40 Posted May 12, 2006 I'm not much of a football fan, but I may have to buy the Madden Wii game. http://www.gamespot.com/e3/e3story.html?si...0405&pid=932733 I'm surprised to see EA getting behind the idea this much (it really seems like they're trying to do something intelligent with the controller). I figured they'd just make it so you flicked the controller to throw the ball and call it a day. I didn't expect to see people thrusting forward to straight arm, being able to control the direction of the kick by putting some english on it, and using it to control your running moves. And, well, the passing with it does sound pretty well done. I wonder what they'll do with it on defense.
