CosmicJoke #2 Posted April 27, 2002 Quote from article: quoteTheir dynasties came crashing down in 1994 with the introduction of the powerful Nintendo 64 and turbo-charged personal computers. What? The N64 caused their downfall...The N64 didn't cause the downfall of anything! Also, since when have PC's really effected the sales of console systems? These Wired articles need to be written by more knowledgable people. Liquid_Sky, I'm not picking on you, I'm picking on the guy that wrote that article! AtariKen64 #3 Posted April 27, 2002 ya the guy who wrote this is an idiot. wouldnt the downfall have been in say 1984? and not even really by nintendo, the nes just prevented any sort of a comeback also i think if taken care of properly a console will last forever, but only we know who to care of crap
Big Player #4 Posted April 27, 2002 "Their dynasties came crashing down in 1994 with the introduction of the powerful Nintendo 64 and turbo-charged personal computers. The block animations, limited sound quality and abrupt story lines simply couldn't compete with revved-up games powered by CD-ROMs with all that memory. For the last eight years, it appeared as though Atari and Intellivision might be relegated to gaming history." What? No, it was 1984 when their dynasties died. And as much as I like Intellivision, it never really had a dynasty, at least nothing compared to Atari. Both systems tried a comeback in the late eighties but they couldn't compete with the NES. But a good article, other than the quoted paragraph.
