how did u accumulate so many protos? find any for cheap in the wild?!?

Some were found in the wild/garage sales/thrift store and word of mouth. Most have

been collected through the internet resources like RCVG News group before the WEB,

Message Boards, Collector sites and Ebay before they started restricting there sale.

I have enjoyed collecting them over the years but I really don't do much with them

anymore so I thought they would be better appreciated by new owners :)

I really dont have much information as why they were put together this

way but below are my thoughts on some possible reasons. Sorry I cant be more

specific but I never got any other information about them.

The clear case frog pond was sold to me with that case and I never did get any more information about how or

why it was put in that special type case ? it does have the Atari part number molded into the case with a molded

line through the rev. number so I am fairly confident it is an original Atari special run case probably done for

some special reason like an internal example to show how the dust cover worked of maybe to show how the

parts fit together but I really have no specific information

As for the reason the Grover only has the large paper label is also unknown to me but it certainly looks to have

been on the cart for a long long time (actiplaque type glue staining) so I do beleive it was also originaly to the case

but why they used just a white paper label is unkown, could be it was only used as a quick fix because there were no

proto/loaner labels available at the time ? Also could be an employe put this together for there own use and simply

added the plain type label for there own use ? but again I really have no specific information as to why.

Thanks for asking as it gave me the chance to explain them in a little more detail

Dennis has been in this for ages. I've bought a ton off of him. He's like Bank of Atari, he's got so much cool stuff. He's sold alot of it actually. I'd like to get some of this goods, but it's a matter of spending cash I earn with selling stuff, and I don't have the cash now.

The clear case has been seen on numerous other protos, and is likely authentic Atari. I have a Soceror's Apprentice or something like that proto with the clear case as well.

Thanks for the cool reference my friend

I have indeed been selling a lot of my collection due to a lay off on my job a few

Years ago (back to work now :) ) and it has kinda snowballed, I keep finding

Myself saying well I already sold such and such so I might as well sell this. Its

Now got to the point I will never be able to replace the truly rare stuff I have sold

So my collection is slowly being reduced to just my favorite items and the games

I like to play. Probably all for the best as I was truly running out of room for it all

And not really doing anything with most of it, and at least this way the items will

Be able to be appreciated by other collectors who will have more space to display

And use these items.

Beautiful! Any chance of releasing the roms for these prototypes or is that up to the new owners?

Thanks

I think the new owner will probably be the best bet

Especially since I have been wanting to dump them but

Just can’t seem to get it done. :?

BTW Feel free to use any of the scans/photos
