Liquids in carts?

I've been worrying about this, if you bought a used NES, GB, Genesis etc. game, how would you know if there were any liquids spilled in it at one time? Do you just wait for the thing to rust out?

If it is dried and cleaned the liquids will not rust the contacts , but if water remained in the case for a while , it could rust out the ICs

 

When people spill things though , its not just into the slot , Ussually , Check the label for water marks or damage , hope this helps

That's what I figured, the games I'm worried about are old, but they work 100% perfect, so there's probably nothing wrong. Thanks, Skatepunk.
