Is Contra Rare?

I've been shecking out alot of online stores and Contra sells for quite a bit. Is this game rare? I got it for $2.00 at my local thrift.

 

What is it about anyway, my NES is not hoocked up at the moment.

Contra is not exactly rare, but it isn't common. It also is an extremely popular and good game that many people purchase and than hold on too, so it sells for a lot more.

 

If you want another Contra game for cheap, get Super C. Most people don't associate it as a sequel to Contra as it doesn't have the name Contra in it, so it usually can be had for under $10.00.

I guess I payed a good price for it. I see on your store it is $16.00.

 

If only I had some cash I would order stuff from you.

It's about running around and killin' everything in sight, even better with a friend! And Super C is definitely a sequel, my cousins used to have it.

I wouldn't call Contra rare, but as far as price goes it naturally depends on where you find it / buy it. For example I saw a loose one at Goodwill yesterday for $1.99.

 

By the way has anyone here ever played the japanese version of Contra? I did for the first time (using NesterDC) and it's great! It has a whole intro storyline, a map scene (like Ghouls and Ghosts). And there is extra animation in some parts like in the first level where the trees branches sway! It was sort of a revelation for me

Just played it on ROM. It's kinda like Megaman but you jump higher.
