8th lutz #1 Posted May 25, 2006 (edited) I recently bought a tg-16 and also bought 3 games at a flee market. The games are Dungeon Explorer, The Legendary Axe, and Alien crash. The system came with one controller with hookups. I am wondering the following: What is the best control for it? If I want tg-16 import games, would I be better off getting a PC-Engine Converter or get it modded? Edited May 25, 2006 by 8th lutz
Ze_ro #2 Posted May 25, 2006 What is the best control for it? I'm not aware of very many 3rd party controllers for the TG-16. I know NEC released an arcade-style stick for it, and there are 6-button pads around for SF2, but really you're probably best off with using the stock controllers. If I want tg-16 import games, would I be better off getting a PC-Engine Converter or get it modded? Unfortunately, it seems that the cheapest solution here is to buy an actual PC-Engine. The adaptors are really hard to find and expensive, and the mod is a little tricky. PC-Engine's are relatively easy to find on eBay. --Zero
Blur2040 #3 Posted May 25, 2006 Agreed, just buy a PC Engine...Import adapters and Mods are pretty damn expensive. On top of that, the mod takes quite a bit of wires...and I just don't trust it. Just get a PC Engine...and soon you'll forget you ever owned a Turbo Grafx.

I managed to pick up a converter for a relatively reasonable price (about the price of buying a PC Engine and having it shipped to the U.S).

In my opinion the best control for use with the TurboGrafx-16 is the standard controller that came with the system. If not that then the TurboStick. It's a pretty solid arcade stick and I find it to be most enjoyable, especially on Alien Crush. If you want PC Engine games, I'd just snag a PC Engine. It's usually less than what a converter would cost. Owning a TurboGrafx is a real pleasure, welcome to the club. : ) I don't want to spam but if you're new to TG16 you should check out my website - TurboGrafx-16.com Good luck!! Dr. Morbis #6 Posted May 26, 2006 As said, snaga PC Engine, but do keep your TG16 lying around for when you make the occasional TG find in the wild.
