+Cobra Kai #2 Posted May 25, 2006 I would not be upset with that price honestly. Thanks to Sony, even $250 is a great value.
Atarifever #3 Posted May 25, 2006 I would not be upset with that price honestly. Thanks to Sony, even $250 is a great value. Remember that chart floated around the internet by Sony's viral marketers showing the price of the PS3 compared to all the other systems? Weren't all Nintendo's systems launched at $200 right back to the NES? If the worst I have to see is a $50 increase since the 80's in my consoles, I'll consider myself a lucky man. Also, it still means a Wii and a 360 premium together will only cost $50 more than a premium PS3. That's still not a bad deal.
NovaXpress #4 Posted May 25, 2006 It's just speculation. Every Nintendo console was released at $199. It's the magic number.
chrisbid #5 Posted May 25, 2006 if the system comes with either a second controller and/or a packin game, 250 will be a good price point
Atarifever #6 Posted May 25, 2006 (edited) if the system comes with either a second controller and/or a packin game, 250 will be a good price point Does it come with the standard controller? If it came with that controller along with the wand and analog, I'd consider it a deal. Really, that'd be making it possible for all consumers to play traditional style games on the thing without having to shell out extra money. Also, if it came pre-loaded with an NES game and an SNES game,it'd be pretty sweet. Edited May 25, 2006 by Atarifever
Room 34 #7 Posted May 25, 2006 It's just speculation. Every Nintendo console was released at $199. It's the magic number. Why would Big N officially say "under $250" if they didn't mean $249? http://news.com.com/Nintendo+prices+Wii+at..._3-6076813.html
NovaXpress #8 Posted May 25, 2006 We're looking at $199 for the console, a Wii wand and the analog nunchuk attachment. Any bundles will be offered by retailers, not Nintendo.

JB #10 Posted May 25, 2006 Also, if it came pre-loaded with an NES game and an SNES game,it'd be pretty sweet. And if it comes pre-loaded with Sonic the Hedgehog, I might die of laughter.
Atarifever #11 Posted May 26, 2006 Also, if it came pre-loaded with an NES game and an SNES game,it'd be pretty sweet. And if it comes pre-loaded with Sonic the Hedgehog, I might die of laughter. That's marketing genius. Sony can throw all the specs around they want, but the Wii can blow them out of the water by proving who has blast processing. I can't see anyone wanting the PS3 once it's clear that they don't have that. By the way, did anyone read the little "Genesis vs. SNES" article in Nintendo Power lately? It's funny how much credit they're giving the Genesis now. One of the guys even says the Genesis had a better library but concedes that the "SNES had [him] covered in the happy bunny department". AtariJr #12 Posted May 26, 2006 They also said it could go at 199... which i think would be an awesome number... Even 250 isnt bad considering the DS was 150 at launch.. and thast a handheld. I heard a rumor that Wii Sports might be included, which would be a great thing.
sega saturn x #13 Posted May 26, 2006 Hope they do a pack in other than wii sports. Still even at 250$ It's far and away the cheapest console out there right now.
brpocock #14 Posted May 26, 2006 Zelda packin please I'm rather hoping there's an introductory discount, as with the NDS (MSRP: $150, introductory price $120) and GCN (MSRP: $200, introductory price $150) for us fanboys who preorder the damned things. NE146 #15 Posted May 26, 2006 I seem to remember paying $250 for the SNES and also the N64. But that was probably due to where I bought them at
The Eidolon #16 Posted May 26, 2006 I saw that article--it seemed odd. They quoted 25,000 Yen or lower in Japan and $250 or lower in the US. The exchange rate is about 111 Yen to the Dollar right now, so that leaves open the possiblilty that it will be cheaper in Japan than in the US. This almost never happens with electronic goods, so I would guess that the Wii might be even a little cheaper in the US than $250 if it comes in at 25,000 Yen. $225 would be a closer US equivalent price. Anyway, we'll find out soon enough. I wonder how many controllers it comes with built in... --The Eidolon
King_Salamon #17 Posted May 26, 2006 I wonder how many controllers it comes with built in... --The Eidolon That's an easy one... none. All controllers are wireless! LOL! Couldn't resist. To answer the question of how many controllers it comes with as part of the package... I would hope there are 2 wands at least... maybe with the multi colored wands they may include 2 different colours...
NovaXpress #18 Posted May 26, 2006 1 wand, 1 analog attachment, $
joeybastard #19 Posted May 26, 2006 I seem to remember paying $250 for the SNES and also the N64. But that was probably due to where I bought them at The SNES was $199 in my area but I definitely paid $250 for the N64. I rememeber they were sold out around here for like 3 months. AtariJr #20 Posted May 26, 2006 yea, pack in game would be nice... i dont understand the big debate over this... 200 or even 250 is a great price... i paid 150 for my ds which is a handheld.. for the wii not to be twice as much is good enough for me as thats what i expected it to be at. NightSprinter #21 Posted May 26, 2006 From what I've heard, because of the whole mess regarding the 360 retailers aren't going to do pre-orders for new systems now.
darklord1977 #22 Posted May 27, 2006 I would not be upset with that price honestly. Thanks to Sony, even $250 is a great value. i also agree ..sony is messing it it for everybody with their over inflated prices..i think most people will rather pop 250 down than 499-
AtariJr #23 Posted May 27, 2006 (edited) From what I've heard, because of the whole mess regarding the 360 retailers aren't going to do pre-orders for new systems now. Really, the EB and Gamestop near my place, and the Toys R Us i work for will have them soon and replying to Darklord1977... DUH! of course no one would rather pay more, hence the bad press. I think that nintendo is playing their cards right, and that microsoft with a price reduction will be barely in the clear by christmas... i think sony starting out so hight, while the other two are so low will make most buyers (most buyers in christmas are PARENTS) not care and go straight for the cheaper... Well now that we're seeing Sonic games on Nintendo consoles, maybe they're just giving Sega more credit than they normally would. $199 for a Wii would sound like a great deal to me. Get rid of that crappy nunchuk controller and you got me sold. It's either that or a XBOX 360.
Ferris #25 Posted May 28, 2006 I wouldnt mind seeing an Action Set again with the light gun and Duck Hunt for a pack-in, in addition to the controller.
