8th lutz #1 Posted May 25, 2006 I think the sms, Neo geo and the saturn should be included on nintedo's virtual game console. I felt the sms games that made it in europe and never came to the us would be perfect for the virtual console. Now granted some of those games were on game geat, but on the sms the games looked better and clearer.
n8littlefield #2 Posted May 25, 2006 I think Neo Geo could still be a very real possibility. SNK have already said that the size limit for 360's arcade is too low for some of their games, and they have been pretty anti-Sony as of late - so I really wouldn't be surprised to see them hit the Wii. NovaXpress #3 Posted May 25, 2006 Quick answer . . . They should ALL be included. Any other response will just kick off a fanboy role call.
JB #4 Posted May 25, 2006 Quick answer . . . They should ALL be included. Except the Studio 2.
NovaXpress #5 Posted May 25, 2006 ESPECIALLY THE STUDIO 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Atarifever #6 Posted May 26, 2006 Someone say something bad about the Studio 2! ... Seriously, I have no frigging idea what that even is.
Vic George 2K3 #7 Posted May 26, 2006 Definitely the Atari 2600, of all systems.
AtariJr #8 Posted May 26, 2006 I wouldnt want a playstation emulator on it... bout it. Would LOOOVE saturn, and dreamcast (common , you could do it. .pleeaaase!)... Neo Geo consoles would be awesome.. snk already has metal slug for wii... so maybe? Atari 2600 would be cool.. but doubtful ... i wish they had an original gameboy emulator as well.. and that would be do able.
n8littlefield #9 Posted May 26, 2006 The hard part about stuff like the 2600 is it becomes hard to place a monetary value on an individual game. I have a feeling that we'll continue to see the older systems (like the 2600 or the Intellivision) end up in compilations still.
Pixelboy #10 Posted May 26, 2006 Older (black-&-white) Game Boy games would be the best additions to the Virtual Console library, because there are plenty of great titles (Batman, Bionic Commando, the Mega Man GB series, Gargoyle's Quest, Final Fantasy Legend series, Super Mario/Wario series, etc.) that are bound to be popular downloads. It's true that you can play them on the Game Cube with the GameBoy Player, but not everyone owns all the carts they want to play, so downloading them for a small fee becomes an interesting proposition. The Atari 2600, ColecoVision, Intellivision, etc. would make up a nice "museum-type" section for the Wii, but since those consoles were never big in Japan, I doubt it will ever happen. Licensing issues alone for each individual game could easely become a nightmare, and if you're going to spend all that energy on licensing deals, you might as well leave those old consoles aside and try to get licenses to arcade games. Having the equivalent of MAME on the Wii would certainly attract far more attention than Atari 2600 games. As far as old gaming consoles go, I wouldn't be half surprised if Konami made their MSX games available on the Wii...
BydoEmpire #11 Posted May 26, 2006 I would like to see Neo Geo because it's something everyone wanted, but so few people could actually buy. WiiMAME?
n8littlefield #12 Posted May 26, 2006 Yeah - I think the old Gameboy and GBC libraries would be a great idea - especially if they could be sent to a DS - now that would be neat since the DS doesn't have the ability to run them otherwise. I think the Virtual Console is likely the thing we know the least concrete details on at this point. We've yet to hear any definate 3rd parties except Hudson and Sega, we don't have any price structure, we don't even have any estimated number of launch titles for it. Clock #13 Posted May 27, 2006 I think they should add the Commodore64 as well - 1 button games at their best.
BydoEmpire #14 Posted May 27, 2006 Downloadable GBC games you could transfer to the DS would be awesome!
Jagasian #15 Posted May 27, 2006 The virtual console should at least support all of the consoles that the original Xbox can emulate. Here is an incomplete list of systems emulated by the Xbox: http://xport.xbox-scene.com/
Avid Fan #16 Posted May 27, 2006 I think the SMS is a no brainer. And throw in the Gamegear too, since its compatable. And GB and GBC too duh. And I want some F'ing Famicom Disk System games too. If not I'll end up pirating them someday, so get my money. Saturn could be cool, but we'd need a big harddrive
JB #17 Posted May 27, 2006 (edited) Saturn could be cool, but we'd need a big harddrive They're already talking about TurboCD, which has the same space issues. And gigabyte SD cards are coming down in price... Edited May 27, 2006 by JB
