Atrix mini-review

I have had this cart for the longest time (THANK YOU LEE K.) Today I finally found time to sit down with it and really play the game. I have tried it several times before, but I didn't fully understand the game mechanics. I read Tempest's excellent proto review of Ixion, which this is a hack of, and the game suddenly came alive. Honestly, this is one of those games I like where the action is fast, I die quickly, and in the span of half an hour I have good gaming fun. The graphics on the hack are much nicer than those of Ixion pictured on Tempest's website with the enemies really looking like aliens (and emitting a text written message), crosses when you die, and just better looking touches throughout. I can't give great advice on any strategy because so far I am not very good. Any "easiness" on the part of Ixion has been eliminated. This game to me requires twitch action like Jawbreaker to look for square patterns and get out of the way of the shooting aliens (while at the same time trying to get the white squares). There is also strategy required for saving shots and maze placement, but the actual gameplay is really easy to learn. Released at the righ time - this game could have been a hit. Well - I will be busy advancing to new boards. Again, thanks to Lee, thanks to Thomas (I believe he did the hack?), and I hope a few others have the game to add any comments. Back to battling the aliens!

I completely agree. I got mine from Rick at NWCGE, and it's one of the better homebrew/hacks out there. It will also kick your ass. Very fun, and extremely fast. One of the fastest 'twitch' games on the system.
