super_dos_man #1 Posted May 29, 2006 (edited) I mean compare this years 3 consoles to the 80s and ninteties. I mean seriously there is no variety all the games are made for every system so whatever system you have you are playing the same sh*t your friend is playing. and only 3 consoles!!!!!!!!! that is outrageous! no one even tries to enter the market. in the eighties in nineties you had neo geo, panasonic, philips, sega, and much more. now you only have 3. microsoft, sony, and nintendo. modern gaming really needs help. why don't they get creative anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!???!!!!!!!!!!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?!!!!!!!!!!!!! ninjarabbit #4 Posted May 30, 2006 The problem is that Sony and Microsoft don't have first party games so they either use second party games or rely on third parties and with third parties it's usually more profitable for them to make cross-platform games given the high development costs nowadays. AtariJr #5 Posted May 30, 2006 (edited) yea.. i mean some of what you said is true... but I mean, you cant get nintendo's 1st party games on other systems, and those are usually the best ones for their systems. In the same respect yes, a lot of games are shared, but this happened in the 80s and 90s you know! Look at many of the games on the genesis and snes that are shared like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. And in the 80's look at all those arcade games that are made on cross platform. I think every system had games like DOnkey Kong, Galaga, Pacman etc. I think your looking too much into it. Do i wish there was more variety, yea. Do i think the next gen will be better at this, definately. Do i want more competitors in the market.. no, and i dont think there is room for another, look at Gizmondo and Phantom. If you cant realize the many faults in your statements then you really need to look into this stuff more... and im personally glad not to have a crap load of bad systems out there ... would you WANT 360, Wii, Ps3, Panasonic (oh god no), a 600 dollar Neo Geo, Sega, and philips (another oh god no). I think not... and no console could survive with that many competitors.. thats why the weak ones like some of the ones i named above dropped out... Sometimes you have lots of competitors out liek that, but they dont last and dont help the market. Edited May 30, 2006 by AtariJr
