Need some help from all of you emulator knowledgables.

Okay, my MAME is just crap on my PC. Doesn't work right, most ROMS don't download etc. I know this is a problem with the computer, but I can't fix it, so I need some help from all of you that know about the different arcade emulators: Are there any other arcade emulators that will play Double Dragon? I know Raine plays DD3, but I couldn't get that to work. Anything is mucho appreciated.

For some systems, the fix is as easy as switching from Mame to Mame32.

What version of Mame are you running? What OS is your computer using? Where did you get your romsets?

I've been using MAME32 .30. That's the one that works. I just tried .60, and that won't work. In addition to that, none of my other previous MAME's have worked properly. I got my ROMS from all over the place (when they'd download). It would probably be easier to just get a different, reliable, arcade emulator, but if I can fix this, I'll try.

That's exactly what the audit function is for...let it run for all your roms and copy/paste the info window to a text file.

For the bad sets, just try downloading them from somewhere else. Mame.dk still carries info of sets that have been changed, and when.

Double Dragon won't run on "slower" computers, like mine (450 mhz), or it runs but very choppy. Games like Mercs are also choppy, and games like Mortal Kombat (well let's not even go there!)

 

My parent's computer runs every single game perfect (they have a 1.1 ghz). It is just a dream to play street fighter and mortal kombat on their computer.

 

If there was a certain rom that you did not have, and can't find it anywhere, I'll bet I have it. They ARE getting harder and harder to find. Mame dk shut down their roms, and so do alot of other places. I have some links that do still work (tho I hesitate to give them out, as it may cause them to be shut down also).

That's odd... I'm only running a 400 MHz system, and Double Dragon and Mercs run fine. Mortal Kombat is slow, but if you disable the sound, it plays decently. Now S.T.U.N. Runner is where things get nasty....

Okay, I'm downloading MAME .37 b9 now. Hopefully I can get it to work. This should play Double Dragon, Bad Dudes, and Renegade, those are three I need to get playing the most. But, if this doesn't work, is there any other emulators that will play DD decently?

Well, that must have had some corrupted files or something, it wouldn't even load. Here's an idea, if I totally erased my old MAME and put the new one on, would I have any problems?

HA HA! It lives! I got rid of my old MAME, put on .60, Xenophobe and Vs. Super Mario Bros. are already running. I had DD downloaded, but it was missing some files.

Ah, King is happy. Got me a load of ROMS, special thanks to KAZ for the U.S. and Japanese versions of Double Dragon, life is good. Thanks everyone.
