Cassidy Nolen #1 Posted June 7, 2006 Hi all, I remember back in the 97-99 era of PS1 stuff, as soon as the US release came out, your Japanese version was literally worthless. I had to buy the Gran Tourismo and Ridge Racer games the SECOND they were available. What are they worth now? My R4 is the edition with the t-shirt and bonus Ridge Racer discs that works with theJogcon. Just wondering on value, not interested in selling. BTW, I think I paid 149 for it from NCSX back then. spacecadet #2 Posted June 7, 2006 Hi all, I remember back in the 97-99 era of PS1 stuff, as soon as the US release came out, your Japanese version was literally worthless. I had to buy the Gran Tourismo and Ridge Racer games the SECOND they were available. What are they worth now? Not much. It's not because they're imports, it's because a) they're both dirt common, and b) they both have pretty similar sequels that are generally thought to be better. (You can debate the finer points, but overall I think most people would prefer GT4 to GT1, or Ridge Racer 6 to Ridge Racer 4, and the gameplay hasn't changed much.) I don't think imports in general are worthless just because they're imports, but if the US version is pretty much worthless, then so is the import. The exception is probably games like Silhouette Mirage where there is a big difference between the two versions, but situations like that are not common. There are some imports, like Tobal 2, that are still worth a decent amount. It's like anything else; the rarer the game and the more demand for it, the more it's worth. oceanfr #3 Posted July 19, 2006 Actually as far as GT goes id say is better More cars and Sometimes they TAKE OUT STUFF (or dub them in diffretnt voices) in the US versions so imported ver usually better so its the other way around least for me.
