Nateo #30 Posted June 20, 2002 Actually, Nintendo sued Atari many times, mostly because they were making unliscensed NES titles (stupid, power hungry Nintendo). What was Nintendo thinking when they told a developer what they could or couldn't produce? You didn't see Commodore telling developers whether or not they could make a game for thier 64. Sorry about that, I was in the moment.
Varan #31 Posted June 20, 2002 Well, Atari sued Activision for making games for the 2600. And they sued Imagic for hiring Atari developers. Atari lost both.
Nateo #32 Posted June 22, 2002 Yes, but Nitendo managed to win all their court fiascos. This is one of the reasons why I dislike Nintendo (but I have to agree, they do make good games)
Adrian M #33 Posted June 22, 2002 Yes, but Nitendo managed to win all their court fiascos. This is one of the reasons why I dislike Nintendo (but I have to agree, they do make good games) incorrect my friend. Nintendo did lose a lawsuit involving their business practices and Nintendo users *supposedly* benefited from the court's decision. If you recall, back in the early 1990's, all registered Nintendo customers received a $5 coupon good for games or accessories as a result of this decision. When I received my coupon, I laughed and ripped it up. Why? Because instead of PUNISHING Nintendo for its unfair business practices, the court HELPED Nintendo make EVEN more money since you had to buy a game or an accessory to USE the coupon! Yes, the Big N lost $5 off the top of your transaction, but the bottomline was that the so called punishment ADDED sales for Nintendo. No big deal you say? Well, many people I knew used the $5 towards the new Gameboy and this occured around the same time Atari launched the LYNX system. Draw your own conclusions.
