tjb #1 Posted June 13, 2006 Has anyone ever seen this cart before (on Ebay): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 The seller claims the cart contains a number of utilities. I've seen/own flash carts (from AtariMax) so I know it's certainly possible but I guess the screenshot makes me wonder. It looks like an early Windows 3.0/3.1 screenshot. Anybody? -tjb
Wrathchild #2 Posted June 13, 2006 Its an Nir Dary self-built cart http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=86788 I don't know if Nir uploads his images to be tried in emulation beforehand, he's on the forums occasionally so you could PM him. It works fine. < Have you used the "Freezer" function and if so, how effective is it? Thanks. Honestly, I have not used that function. There were two products called "Freezer" that I know of. One was a hardware mod by Bob Wooly that enabled a machine to retain it's RAM contents after pressing RESET. The other was a "cheat" program that allowed you to have unlimited lives in games (?). I believe this cheat utility is what Nir put on this cartridge. Anyway, when I saw your question I fired it up on my 130XE and it loads into memory fine. It then prompts you to insert your Boot Disk or Boot Cassette. I didn't test further since the majority of my arcade type games are on cartridge. Have you tried contacting him about it? ndary #9 Posted June 21, 2006 The 'freezer' works as follow: load the Freezer option from the cartridge and you will be prompt to inster a Disk or Tape, Presss start to boot the disk and play your game. then at any point press SHIFT+SELECT+OPTION to freeze the program, then instert a blank formatted disk into the disk drive and a boot image if the frozen memory will be copied to the disk. You can reboot the computer even when the Utility cartridge is no instered and boot the disk you just created. you can continue and play the game from exactly the point you previusly 'fozen' it. for example: Run the freezer then boot the Game 'Tapper' and play the game till you reach a higher level. you can the freeze the game and continue to play the game from the position to left it the next day. Other usefull things you can do with the freezer: transport Tape game to Disk, Back up copy protected games and more... Note: The 'Freezer' rutine are been copied to the 'Shadow OS' area, so it will work on games / utiliites that does not use this part of the Memory. I hope this information helps. deathtrappomegranate #10 Posted June 24, 2006 Do you think that it would be useful if your ebay auctions indicated that these were carts that you made? There does seem to be a degree of confusion about this.
Velcro_SP #11 Posted June 25, 2006 (edited) Looks like an absolutely brilliant cart with great stuff on it. I would like to see a similar one that works on Atari 800. I would be hotly bidding after that. Velcro_SP #12 Posted June 25, 2006 TRS Desktop looks incredibly nice and advanced, penis icons and mischievous face backdrop aside. Just look at that mouse configuration screen. It looks frankly more straightforward, user-friendlier, and functional that any mouse-configuring I have done on Windows. well, i can tell you that screenshot isnt windows 1.0 or 3.1, not at all. could even be a hack of contiki or something.
