King Atari #1 Posted June 6, 2002 I've heard this is a home console only sequel to Renegade. Was it only released for the NES? Also, is it a side scrolling beat-em-up, like Renegade, or something different?
Mayhem #2 Posted June 6, 2002 It was released by Ocean/Imagine for home computers (C64, Spectrum etc) in Europe. A pseudo sequel to the Renegade coin-op, same sort of thing, much bigger levels however...
kyle #3 Posted June 6, 2002 Tarket renegade is a side scroling fighting game i had for years on the NES and i hated it. The game remindes me of drouble dragon 3 for some reason??
King Atari #4 Posted June 6, 2002 Hmm, okay, I might check it out, I collect side scrolling beat em ups, so it could prove interesting. Thanks for your help.
Ze_ro #5 Posted June 12, 2002 It's a crappy game. I used to have it for the C-64. You're better off with Double Dragon, or better yet, River City Ransom. --Zero
King Atari #6 Posted June 12, 2002 Well you're ALWAYS better off with Double Dragon. That's a given. I still don't see the fasicnation with River City Ransom. The characters are short and stocky, and the jumping is BAD.

The original NES Double Dragon deviated too much from what made the arcade versions fun, in my opinion.
King Atari #8 Posted June 13, 2002 Double Dragon II on the NES was the BEST DD on any gaming system, save for the arcade versions. The original NES Double Dragon deviated too much from what made the arcade versions fun, in my opinion. All of the NES versions kinda went their own way. I will say that although NES DD did have it's levels rearranged, had too many platform style elements, and added the cave (where the h*ll did that come from?!), at least it's still pretty much a street fighter. It's certainly my favorite NES DD game. NES DDII completely killed the feeling of street fighting by Mission 4. An undersea base? C'mon! I can accept the Black Warriors taking over a mountain and converting it into a fortress, since that is possible, but them creating an undersea base? They're a street gang, they don't have the resources for that! NES DDII is good, but I prefer the coin-op version to it. If nothing else, they took Mission 2's awesome music, toned it down, and put it in Mission 1, and that's just wrong. NES DD3 isn't nearly as good as the first two games (but The Double Dragon Dojo raves about it anyways), but it's still better than any other version of #3. It would have been much better if you got more than one life, and the enemies weren't so freakin' hard! And finally, Battletoads and Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team just doesn't count. Not just the NES version, but any version. Double Dragon isn't about that, it's more of a Battletoads games anyways (which I always considered a rip-off of TMNT). I was instantly turned off by DD3's difficulty. ONE LIFE to last you up until mission 4???? But I must say that in terms of play mechanics, DD3 for NES at least played like the other games in the NES series. The same simply cannot be said for the arcade version of DD3. King Atari #10 Posted June 13, 2002 When speaking of the play mechanics of DD3, compare the coin-op version of DD3 to the Genesis version. The Genesis version has superior graphics, but the collision detection was terrible. The coin-op version had bad, choppy graphics, but enemies could be taken out easily. The only enemy I had a real problem with was Cleopatra at the end. You can barely lay a hit on her!
