In the wild this week.

Recommended Posts

Ok folks, I'd like to hear who found some goodies. Not much on this end, though I hit at least 25 garage sales. Here's what I got.

Wrestlemania NES and NHL 95 Super NES for 25 cents each at a church sale.

Some 3M Bookcase game from 1962 also for 25 cents at the same church sale.

Godzilla and Starship Hector for NES, $3.00 for both.

Star Wars Ewok's Adventure movie, $3.00 on VHS. This is the first time I've seen this thing. Always watched it on tv, never saw a VHS.

That's about all I got. It was extremely disappointing. One woman said her husband had some games, but he wasn't in and I wasn't about to go back. Also, some lady had a 5200, but it looked beat up and had no controllers, so I didn't even bother. I did turn down a free Bobby Orr tabletop hockey boxed. Don't think it was totally working plus had some mold on the "ice". Just didn't feel like storing it.

So what did all you find?

I found 5 atari games. Same old ones of course. But my big suprise was at the local vallue village where I have never found anything, I got 2 atari AC adapters and 10 intellivision games in the boxes with instructions and overlays. Now I need an intellivision.

My best day in the wild ever.

Complete, boxed, and working Texas Instruments 99/4A at a yard sale, with about 8 boxed/complete games. All for only $5. I'm happy.

I had a pretty good week.

I got a 6 switch 2600, assorted, controllers/hookups, Colecovision roller controller, assorted manuals, 15 Atari games, and 25 Colecovision games for $15.00 at a flea market.

Got 12 boxed Odyssey II games with manuals for $1.00 at a yard sale. The box they were in had $1.00 each crossed out and had $1.00 for all.

Got a 4 switch, assorted joysticks, and a Pong game for $4.00 at a thrift store.

Got a boxed TRS-80 with accessories for $5.00 at the same thrift store.

A few weeks ago I got a case with 15 Atari 2600 games and manuals for $3.00 at the same place. Also got a NES box with controllers, manuals, hookups, 2 games, gun, and a pad for $2.00 (the console was gone) there. They always have something good there.

Seems like Jim had a jackpot week. Maybe we should all goto his area and start looking around.

Great finds! Hope others found some cool stuff out there. Though you think it may be hard, and maybe it is in some places, people still sell this stuff for cheap.

Not everyone has a computer, not everyone wants to deal with online auctions. It's a hassle to pack up, hope to get paid, and ship this stuff. If a person sells at a garage sale, it's literally sold as is and you can't leave the person negative fb either. You knowingly take that chance when buying, and thus will always pay less.

Once I move, I'll take a complete inventory of what I own. Actually I'm taking one while I move. I'm making the list of what I have, then packing it up and bringing it to my mom's basement. Thing is I have to wait for her to move out more stuff in order for me to bring over more. Long and tedious process.

OK I'm a little late on this but,

over the weekemd of june 1,2,3 I had the oppitunity (thanks to some really cheap airfair) to go to LA. It was my wife's birthday so thats the excuse for going.

As many of you know my wife and I collect Sesame Street plush dolls, http://www.elmoandfriends.com

Well fortunetly both collections elmos and atari coinside by us ending up at the thrifts.

So to answer your questions YES We flew 3000 miles to shop at thrifts.

The finds on the Sesame Street side were pretty good.

On the classic game side this is what I found

atari 2600---about 10 comon games nothing I needed.

atari 5200---NOTHING

atari 7800---NOTHING

intelivision--i have not started to collect for this system--saw 4 games

coleco---NOTHING

nes---super mario 3

sms-----NOTHING

genesis--3 sports games

So as you can see i had no better luck at the thrifts on the west coast than I have beeen having on the east coast.

Here is my good find was not at a thrift but at neros comics in san luis obispo I think i spelled it right.

atari 2600 kids controller in box, box has a little dent in one corner and one side is faded but controller appears in excellent condition. Price $5.

If you live near this store check it out they had more games than all the thrifts combined. They did not have anything I nedded but did have some 2600,7800,coleco and intelivsion carts as well as loads of

dreamcst

ps1

ps2

nes

n64

and newer stuff.

Thats the best the west coast had to offer for me.

I hope I trip to THE GREAT WHITE NORTH at the end of the month produces better results.

Jim, you had an incredible haul this week- congrats! I got some scores today I think, nothing ground shaking but pretty good...

Sega Genesis official smoked plastic storage case MIB $8

TI99/4A with sound module and joysticks, etc. $6

NES power pad unused $3

5x SMS games $3 ea. (Shinobi, Out Run, Carmen Sandiego, Choplifter, Great Golf... any of these games any good?)

Casio RapMan keyboard $8 (yep, I collect Casio keyboards... kinda dumb, I know)

Not too bad in this part of the world.

So I got the TI99 because I want to hear it swear. Anyone know of any programs to make the sound chip talk as I type?
