Rom Hunter
We now have 6000 known to exist Atari 2600 game cartridge entries in our database: http://www.atarimania.com/lst_soft.php?MEN...n_sauver=Search That's twice as much as the Digital Press database... Thanks to everybody who helped me to accomplish this! Another 1000 titles to go... Edited June 20, 2006 by Rom Hunter
SteveW
WOW...... I never even knew there were that many variant 2600 titles scattered all over the world. Amazing work, tracking all of those down! Congratulations!

Foxsolo2000
Congratulations Rom, that is a hell of an achievement. Lets hope we can help you make this database the most concise ever attempted
Philflound
Good job. That includes all variations in the world, which is cool. Now all we need is a scan of everything to validate the existances. Phil
Rom Hunter
It's up to the real Atari 2600 cart collectors now. I made drawers for almost all Atari 2600 game cartridges known to exist. It's now a matter of filling these drawers with scans. Once filled, we have IMO archived the world's most interesting chapter of video game history... sku_u
Damn, that means there are almost 1000 games I don't have. Congrats. I like your image database. It's proven to be a very useful tool.
Rom Hunter
Thanks, Sku_u. It's our goal to make it as complete and accurate as possible.
sku_u
I know this is a gigantic undertaking, but if you post a list of what you're missing, you might blow through a good portion of them (in terms of scans).
Rom Hunter
Well, completing the Taiwan section is our first task now. In the meantime 600 games from different manufacturers will be scanned in the coming period. And I'm currently looking for these three missing Absolute Entertainment labels (and boxes): White labels: http://www.atarimania.com/lst_soft.php?MEN...=197&VISU=TABLE Black label: http://www.atarimania.com/detail_soft.php?...ERSION_ID=13443 So if someone owns these, we can finish Absolute Entertainment to start with. Shawn
Good job. That includes all variations in the world, which is cool. Now all we need is a scan of everything to validate the existances. Phil Pictures are the real truth to me also. If I can see a pic of a real physical cart than its groovy, otherwise it don't exist cause there is no proof IMO. The Atarimania site is clearly on the right path to greatness for sure!! I can't wait to be able to sift threw 6000 different pics of 6000 different 2600 carts, that would be awsome. More and more it seems the exact number of 2600 carts will never be known.

Shawn, I've (seen) pictures of almost every title in the Atarimania database, so trust me: they really do exist. The only thing is that a lot of these pictures are way too crappy to add to our database. About the exact number of Atari 2600 carts: Between 7000 and 8000 (including every label variation).
