jbanes #4 Posted June 21, 2006 a nintendo 64 with a complete library or even a library with more than 15 games for that matter I should think that it's rare to find a "complete" library of any modern system. Not only do they tend to have a glut of titles, but they aren't old enough yet to find the media for extremely low prices. N64 Carts still go for $20 and up. yea but there is only 15 good games for the n64 Hey, now. Them's fightin' words! 1. Mario 64 2. Star Fox 64 3. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 4. Mario Party 5. Super Smash Bros. 6. Mario Golf 64 (This is a surpringly fun game!) 7. Mario Kart 64 8. GoldenEye 007 9. Banjo-Kazooie 10. Diddy Kong Racing 11. Donkey Kong 64 12. Banjo-Tooie 13. Perfect Dark 14. San Francisco Rush 15. Bomberman 64 16. Cruis'n USA 17. Killer Instinct Gold (Why oh why didn't they also release the original?!?) 18. Doom 64 19. F-Zero X 20. Hydro Thunder 21. Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine 22. Wave Race 64 23. Yoshi's Story Shall I go on?
Clint Thompson #5 Posted June 21, 2006 I think Tetrisphere deserves a good mention on some list?
Lemmi #6 Posted June 21, 2006 hahaha out of those 23 i have 6 of those why you ask? because they cost to damn much, and i dont like games that are cart only unless its the 2600, everything else has to have a manual atleast i have all the games released in the USA for the 3DO does that count? christianscott27 #8 Posted June 21, 2006 I've got about 75 games for it, thats just from casual collecting too. I've found the loose games going for a couple of bucks in most cases, which is kinda strange since SNES games stayed expensive for a long time. Its an alright system and its a great "kids room" system since its got lots of fun, easy to play titles on the unscratchable cart format. I dont really care if I ever "complete" my N64 collection, I've only got like 15 boxed games right now and dont find many in the wild. In any case the fun I've had playing Rogue Squadron alone made it worth purchasing.
shadow460 #9 Posted June 21, 2006 I've got 50 or 60 titles for the N64 myself. I think it's a rock solid system.
moycon #10 Posted June 21, 2006 Couldn't tell you exactly how many I have...Probably 40+
nester #11 Posted June 21, 2006 Hmm, my 11 year old cousin sure has a bunch, but I'm not sure how many. He also has one of the biggest collections of broken controllers and sticky hardware that I've ever seen. It's truly awe-inspiring.
joeybastard #12 Posted June 21, 2006 (edited) I have 40 something games for mine and only 2 or 3 are complete stinkers. I've had at least some fun playing half and LOVE the other half. Edited June 21, 2006 by joeybastard
spacecadet #13 Posted June 21, 2006 1. Mario 642. Star Fox 64 3. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 4. Mario Party 5. Super Smash Bros. 6. Mario Golf 64 (This is a surpringly fun game!) 7. Bruce Tomlin #14 Posted June 21, 2006 I have about 64 or so now, although some of those are Japanese import dupes of US versions. One of the imports I have which should probably be on a "recommended" list is "J2: Wonder Project". It's one of those "princess maker" style games. And it was hard as hell, especially since you often have to wait a few days of game time before events happen, in addition to some events opening up others. Then a couple of years ago I tried to finish it after finding a hint guide online, but for some reason I hadn't saved before the endgame or something and lost a lot of effort, so I gave up on it. The problem is that aside from ten or so games, most of the good ones are available somewhere else, ported and/or upgraded to GC, GBA, DS, etc., and since the originals were 3D, there isn't much remake involved, so the ports aren't too much different. (unlike the recently released FF3 port, totally remade with a 3D engine) Stuff like: Goldeneye 007, Zelda Majora's Mask, Zelda Ocarina of Time, Ogre Battle 64, Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Gauntlet Legends, Harvest Moon 64, two Castlevania titles, two Duke Nukem titles, Micro Machines 64, Paper Mario, Robotron 64, Super Mash Bros, Worms Armageddon, Bomberman 64, Bomberman Hero, Midway's Greatest Hits, Namco Museum... So while it has some stinkers (Quest 64, anybody?), it has a good supply of decent (if sometimes rare) games, most of them might not worth finding unless you're living in a world where the PS1/PS2, GameCube, and GBA/DS never happened. ...and where else can you get that mountain of suck known as Daikatana on a cartridge? Now you want to talk about a system with no good games, that would be Sega CD. It's hard to find more than ten worthwhile games for that system, with its library full of FMV shovelware. And half of what you had left would have the Working Designs logo on the side of the box.
NE146 #15 Posted June 21, 2006 because they cost to damn much See you missed the "buying opportunity" when all the stores were getting rid of N64 stuff Man I got so many of my boxed unopened N64 games from closeouts.. the most I payed for any game was 10 bucks but a lot were going for 4.99-7.99 or so. I think I got F-Zero for the 4.99.. that rocked

I think I got F-Zero for the 4.99.. that rocked was this before or after 2002? i found a few cheap rental ones, but it was always the games i was interested in were expensive, i did get a complete starcraft64 for $15 from a tradecenter thats when i gave up on the N64 (and when i give up on a system, i forget about collecting for it), and i only had the system for 2 years at that point the only new game i bought was Aero Gauge (i love the wall driving), i played it at funco/gamestop, but they wanted $30 for just the cart but i found it at gooddealgames new for $20 Edited June 21, 2006 by Lemmi
sega saturn x #17 Posted June 21, 2006 I only have about 11 64 games, I re-baught the 64 about a year ago after selling it. Collecting for it has been a drag, to few good games (IMHO) and the ones worth buying are generally about 20$ or more. I can get a current gen game for that, no thanks. Video #18 Posted June 22, 2006 I don't think it's rare, on account of I have 45 or so games myself. Now if you want rare, how about asking how many people have actual working N64 controllers still. The shoddy stick is the only reason I don't regularly play my 64 still.
Atariboy #19 Posted June 22, 2006 Both of mine still feel brand new, they're not suffering from Mario Party syndrome. Playing slower paced games like Ocarina of Time, Pilotwings, and racers like Monaco Grand Prix, for the majority of my N64 playtime has helped them survive since I bought the system when Ocarina of Time was released. I'm up to 51 titles now.

Chickybaby #21 Posted June 22, 2006 Weve got 115 games or so. JBanes, Of your list we don't have Star Fox (I swore we did), GoldenEye, San Fransisco Rush and F Zero X. Will have to work on that one. Tetrisphere is a good one too.

Playing slower paced games like Ocarina of Time, Pilotwings, and racers like Monaco Grand Prix, for the majority of my N64 playtime has helped them survive since I bought the system when Ocarina of Time was released. I'm up to 51 titles now. Racing games get the Ultra Racer 64 without exception. I don't consider stuff like Perfect Dark slow paced at all, really. The stick gets a good workout from that game. My controllers have also survived gobs of Killer Instinct Gold. Just taking care of them is what keeps them going. For those who still need working controllers, Nintendo sells them for the original price: $30 each. Considering that a starting N64 collection can still reach $100 or more, $30 is not too much to invest into a controller for that collection (IMO). Later, when the collector gets more into the N64, he or she can drop $30 or less on more near perfect controllers (like mine). N64 controllers can also have the analog sticks rebuilt or replaced. Some of the third party controllers I've seen appear (don't bet on this) to have an analog stick that will fit right into the stricken N64 pad. Complete N64 collection: $1000 (rough estimate, does not include DD64 or Wideboy) Four brand spanking new controllers, courtesy of the Big N: $120 plus shipping. Worth it? Go try four player Goldeneye for a while, then come back and try to say "no". BTW, most used N64 controllers are $10, and who knows what condition they are in. AtariJr #24 Posted June 23, 2006 (edited) I hate how the n64 got so much crap thrown at it (and this topic is a way too harsh). it was a really fun system to play. The games are quality, and there are is a better ratio of good to bad games than the psone. I hate it that a system doesnt seem to be popular since it doesnt have games like gta on it (horrid "game" if ive ever seen one). There are many games i like for my 64. Starfox 64 still is epic and the ending is still makes you have a sense of completion, unlike Assault. F-Zero X has probably at least a hundred hours of good play time on it for me. My gundam game for it is amazing and fun. Kirby, Star wars rogue, mario kart, diddy kong racing, donkey kong 64, mario 64, shadows of the empire.. and i have many many more where that came from. While its not my favorite system of all time... yes ill admit i sold my original.. but then had to buy another one again, i still enjoy it more than my playstations and my genesis systems. While it was a bit of a disappointment of a system, i still had great fun with countless games. what is it with these topics man.. hell even a neo geo pc had 15 good games.. why wouldnt the n64 Edited June 23, 2006 by AtariJr
sega saturn x #25 Posted June 23, 2006 (edited) my main beef with the 64 lies in the fact it has 0 good fighters and 0 good shooters. And I would imagine the 64 does have a better good to bad since it has what, 1/10 of the games the psx had?
