Tool for comparing ROM images and finding cheat codes

Recommended Posts

Someone asked for something like this a while back...

http://www.hardcoders.org/stelladoc/stella...d_cheat-0.1.zip

Basically, you give it the names of two ROM image files (original and hacked version of the same game), and it spits out one or more Stella-compatible cheat codes, representing the differences between the two files. You can then load the original ROM in Stella and enter the cheat code(s) to play the hacked version of the game.

There's a Windows executable of the program in the zip file, but it's totally untested (I compiled it on Linux with a cross-compiler; I don't have a Windows box handy to test it on). If anyone has problems with it, let me know.

Non-Windows users: compile with "make", copy the binary somewhere on your PATH.
