super_dos_man #5 Posted June 27, 2006 alright. will do. (praying that my battery I saved my file on won't die)
jetset #6 Posted June 27, 2006 Here's a hint. It's about 5 screens due east of the first dungeon level. But you can't go directly due east from the first.
+uosipa llamxew #7 Posted June 27, 2006 Heheh, it's funny and cool to know someone is playing Zelda for the first time! It makes me want to dig out the game and play it through again.
vdub_bobby #8 Posted June 27, 2006 BTW, you can find complete maps, of both the overworld and every dungeon, online. I wouldn't go after them just yet, though - way more fun to explore it all yourself.
NE146 #9 Posted June 27, 2006 The whole idea of zelda 1 is you wander around exploring stuff to do. Eventually, you find another dungeon. Although that wasn't obvious to me when I first played it... it just happened naturally. Have at it
super_dos_man #10 Posted June 27, 2006 alright I'm not gonna cheat and I'm going to play non-stop till I win. How long would that exactly take?

carpecarne #12 Posted June 28, 2006 alright I'm not gonna cheat and I'm going to play non-stop till I win. How long would that exactly take? I beat it within a couple of days on an emulator. However, I used save states all the time... Technically that's cheating, i know, but my time is limited. Hilarious about you never taking it out of the box until NOW! What the hell happened? gdement #17 Posted June 28, 2006 lol I've had the game since 1988 but never played. LOL I JUST TOOK IT OUT OF IT"S BOX A DAY AGO! That game was practically a religious experience for me in 1988. To think that you had it and didn't open it... you're gonna make me cry. After getting the game, I made the mistake of bringing it to a friend's birthday party. The crowd of his friends pretty quickly revealed most of the secrets in the game. This game is a lot of fun when you're still exploring the unknown, don't deprive yourself of that. gdement #18 Posted June 28, 2006 doesnt the game come with a map? i got mine at funcoland and it had the map i remember my buddy had this game and the map but i dont think i ever asked him where he got it or where it came from, his had writting and synbols all over it, his own personal cheat sheet The original manual has a tutorial to Level-1, and a small map that's enough to lead you to level-2. It didn't come with a full map.
StanJr #19 Posted June 28, 2006 if you found the second dungeon, then beat it before you go anywhere else. It is pretty easy as it is the Moon Dungeon. Keep plenty of bombs with you at all times in there. The Third Dungeon is south of the Fairy Lake in the west... nice to see someone experiencing this for the first time. As said above, this was a religious experience back in the day. I have played this game so many times I can beat it without dying in a little over an hour. moycon #20 Posted June 28, 2006 I remember my little brother and I mapped out the entire world on graph paper as we went along. Those were the days.
super_dos_man #21 Posted June 28, 2006 I love this game! what the hell was I doing in 1988? I should have played it! anyhow. I'm in the castle and don't know what to do there is a path going across the screen and it has 2 walls surrounding it. Once I killed the bats a bomb appeared in the center. What am I supposed to do? figgler #23 Posted June 28, 2006 Man you are so all over the place. Zelda is not an easy game and it's not meant to be a quick game. This isn't in any way a title you can just sit down and beat. Back in the day it probably took close to a year or more to finish and that's with trading school yard secrets and whatnot. Just relax, explore and have fun. Trying to rush through, then getting frustrated does Zelda a major injustice
super_dos_man #24 Posted June 28, 2006 im bored of this game after spending FIVE HOURS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO IN THE SECOND DUNGEON. I am very close to just giving away this cartridge
figgler #25 Posted June 28, 2006 Maybe you should just give up then. It doesn't get any easier. Best to destroy the cartridge afterward so that no one else has to endure the cruel punishment of Legend of Zelda, the most ungratifying, boring game ever made
