vdub_bobby #28 Posted June 28, 2006 :!: You can use bombs to blow holes in some of the walls! The 2nd dungeon is all about bombs. Considering your reaction to getting stuck, maybe you should have left it in the box for another 20 years.
NE146 #29 Posted June 28, 2006 You dufus.. bomb the wall in the dungeon Right there in the center of the top, bottom, left/right walls. Which one? Well there's only so many walls in there, and if you spent 5 hours, I'm sure within that time you could have systematically tried it
jetset #30 Posted June 28, 2006 Actually this thread has be in the mood to start playing. I've played/finished (both quests of course!) so many times its not even funny, but I could stand another go-round. And I actually just yesterday acquired the actual NES cart via a trade with a co-worker (yeah, 100+ NES carts and I didnt have Zelda...go figure!). I played via emulation a few times, as well as on the Gamecube on the Zelda collection but haven't played it on a reas NES in a million years! ...and Super_dos...you'e mising out. If you can't handle Zelda you need to stick to tiddly-winks or something. Sure you'll get stuck often, and may even want to throw the NES, game and al out the window at times, but that's what makes beating a level, or solving a puzzle all the more rewarding. But if you give up on the second level...sheesh!

Well there's only so many walls in there, and if you spent 5 hours, I'm sure within that time you could have systematically tried it already tried blasting away the wall but it didn't work Then you are blasting the wrong wall. Some advice (hopefully without giving anything away): Listen to what the little wise people tell you. Explore the overworld. Save rupies and buy some equipment; A large shield might be handy - arrows are good too! After my last post, I started playing again and the first few dungeons are pretty straight-forward... once you find them. I had some errands to run, but now I'm back and going to finish the 4th dungeon. There is a reason this game stayed on top of the charts for so many years. +uosipa llamxew #34 Posted June 28, 2006 YAY! I'm on level Nine!!!! ( How many levels to go?) There is one more dungeon and then another full quest. Dungeon 9 is in the forest, isn't it? Did you finish the other dungeons? The game will be impossible if you didn't.
super_dos_man #35 Posted June 28, 2006 (edited) yeah I finished all of the other dungeons and got all of the items. ( yeah you need the items. For example, you need the bridge) oh yeah I forgot to mention I BEAT ZELDA IN 25 HOURS!!! Edited June 28, 2006 by super_dos_man
figgler #36 Posted June 28, 2006 oh yeah I forgot to mention I BEAT ZELDA IN 25 HOURS!!! Now now. Don't go bragging about cheating to win
super_dos_man #37 Posted June 28, 2006 (edited) what? does blasting the sides of the walls count as cheating? (If it does then I am heart broken ) I also blasted through caves and stuff besides, there is no actual CHEATING there are just hidden entrances etc. that I bothered to discover. figgler #38 Posted June 28, 2006 what? does blasting the sides of the walls count as cheating? (If it does then I am heart broken ) I also blasted through caves and stuff It's completely impossible to beat Zelda without cheating in 25 hours if you are going into it not knowing anything at all about the game world, mechanics. a walkthrough, Game Genie, whatever - it counts as cheating

+uosipa llamxew #40 Posted June 28, 2006 (edited) Did you discover everything on your own? Did you use a walkthrough with maps of the dungeons showing where items and hidden doors were? doesnt the game come with a map? Yeah, but if I remember correctly, it only showed a small piece of the overworld. i got mine at funcoland and it had the map. i remember my buddy had this game and the map but i dont think i ever asked him where he got it or where it came from, his had writting and synbols all over it, his own personal cheat sheet I believe a full map was printed in Nintendo Power at one time. vdub_bobby #42 Posted June 28, 2006 (edited) What an odd thread: What do I do now, I beat the very very firstest level? ... THIS GAME IS TEH SUX0R!11 I HATE IT, AND YOU, AND MYSELF AND WILL NEVER EVER PLAY IT AGAIN AFTER GETTING STUCK ON THE 2ND LEVEL. (sucks thumb) ... Oh, I beat it and I am the bomb. And all this in under 24 hours I hope you get some medication for that condition, buddy. And here are some maps; don't look at 'em if you are one of the other three guys who has never played Zelda. jetset #44 Posted June 28, 2006 (edited) gees I guess It's not okay to play video games anymore without a bunch of assclowns harrassing you. Oh well.............................. Boy you're officiallykicked out of BOTH the Heat fanclub AND the Zelda fanclub. There's NO WAY you finished the game in 25 hours. Even WITH cheats. You can find all the hidden shit, but dungeons 7, 8 & 9 you cant just beat the bosses without having oodles of practice. I was Ganons bitch for about three days before I beat him. Personally, I think you're full of S-H-I-T. Edited June 28, 2006 by jetset

+Omegamatrix #46 Posted June 28, 2006 All things aside, Zelda is still a great game and one of my favorites. I still run through it about once a year. For some reason though it just doesn't feel right unless it's on real hardware for me. I guess just still like to sit on my couch and play it on my TV rather then playing it on my computer for nostalgia. The only difference these days are that I use dogbone controllers over the NES brick controllers. I never finished the second quest as a kid. It was only a few years ago that I did it. Man did that feel good even after all those years.
figgler #47 Posted June 28, 2006 I never finished the second quest as a kid. It was only a few years ago that I did it. Man did that feel good even after all those years. Real hardware. Always. Playing on you computer is shit I say As for the second quest, the first time I beat it as a kid, I had to do it in one sitting. I got half way through it one afternoon and when I went back, it turned out the battery had died. The very next Saturday I had to dedicate the whole day to playing. Pausing and breaking only for dinner and such to finish, knowing that I literally could not stop. Good times
super_dos_man #48 Posted June 28, 2006 (edited) guys I was lieing the whole damn time. I'm only in the third dungeon. I am having a great time! ( I hated to see you guys get mad) this is a great game. one for the ages. I love the way they make you explore instead of telling you what to do! I know that sometimes save data will be erased if you turn the NES on or off without holding in RESET. I've had that happen numerous times with Zelda, Zelda II, Dragon Warrior, Crystalis, and a bunch of other games with save batteries, but I've never seen a game with a dead battery - not that it couldn't happen, it just seems odd, especially since all those games are 20 years old now with still-working batteries, but yours died when it was (I assume) much newer.
