Star Trek: Shattered Universe

Recommended Posts

I was looking for the thread where we were discussing this game. I think it was in the XBOX 360 backwards compati-"bull" thread but there seems to be a catfight going on in there ...

On a recommendation from here, I snagged this game last night. It was the same copy I passed over about 3 months ago at Blockbuster Video. "Don't worry little game, I'll take you home," I said.

It requires that you set the resolution down to 480p to play on the XBOX 360, which I thought was a little weird. No other game does that to my knowledge.

It's neat to see Chekov and Sulu, but you'd think the evil mirror universe guys would have some more ... evil haircuts or something going on. These look like the same dorks from the other galaxy, except surlier and in new clothes.

Graphics are nice. Haven't played enough to see the unbalanced gameplay yet. I've bought about a year's worth of games this week and will need some time off to try them al!

LOL - that thread went bad starting with the the first and incorrect post.

I remember playing this game for all of ten minutes. It really does suck. Sucks out of plain old uninspired mediocrity and it's inability to strive for what it could have been. I wouldn't want it for $5. There's so many better ways to spend my gaming time ;)

Yup, I'll be all over that, or maybe the "lite" version coming to the DS and PSP. These look like they'll be Trek done right.

Star Trek Legacy looks cool. Hopefully, it will actually end up decent.

Shatterred Universe is OK. The first thing you have to accept is that it isn't going to be Ace Combat.

Shattered Universe was going to be a standard issue 3D space fighter until they managed to get the Star Trek license.

I love Shattered Universe. After playing it a bit, I liked the hard difficulty. And i've always liked a good 3D space shooter. Giving it the Star Trek makeover clinched the deal.

I tried to enjoy this game, I even played it through to the end but it's really not that good. I think it's biggest flaw is that it will go to real-time cutscenes of starships exploding - yet the gameplay continues and you just have to hope that no one is chasing you at that moment or you'll be screwed as you have to sit there and watch a starship explode.

I liked the multiple warhead torpedos and the inclusion of the Tholians was great but why they had you replaying several missions based entirely off original series episodes was kind of lame. By that time in the ST universe timeline that stuff would have happened a long time ago. The AI is pretty bad too. The Excelsior is a waste of a ship in this game, always breaking down and even when it is working it just sits there and lets enemies pound away at it until it explodes. Yeah I know, they were going for difficultly but to me as a Trek fan it's quite annoying.
