finally found a heavey sixer

i picked up a heavy sixer last sunday for 20 bucks (the owner had no clue), but after a few minutes of play the colors shift. for instance, on lock n chase, the blue maze turns green. what would cause this and could it be fixed?

There are several possibilities:

 

Chroma phase pot.

Power supply.

7805 voltage regulator.

etc.

 

Of course any problem can be fixed, but just going in and doing a bunch of haphazard part-swapping can get expensive and frustrating.

 

You can start by trying another power supply if you have one. If that's not it, turning the color pot back and forth a few times before setting it correctly again may give the unit a temporary stability. If it does, then you've found the problem and should get a replacement.

 

If you get this far without resolution, I recommend you let someone with more experience work on it.
