hex65000 #1 Posted June 30, 2006 Finally! I feel like the competition is almost like a ride to the rescue. (even though it probably isn't.) http://www.electricnews.net/frontpage/news-9719972.html Hex. [ I just keep shedding... eww! ]
+RandomPerson #2 Posted June 30, 2006 They are charging .1 percent form the total more than paypal does per transaction and you cannot keep a balance nor can you do person to person transactions. Too bad, I had high hopes for GBuy.
taxman #3 Posted June 30, 2006 (edited) That must be a mis-print. Paypal charges 2.9% not 1.9%. At least that's the standard rate. The only way you can get the 1.9% is if you do over 100,000 volume per month. Edited June 30, 2006 by taxman
video game addict #4 Posted June 30, 2006 That must be a mis-print. Paypal charges 2.9% not 1.9%. That's an E-commerce rate for larger companies. It is 2.9% for the regular joe domestic & 3.9% on international transactions.
+RandomPerson #5 Posted June 30, 2006 But what about the no balace thing and no person to person. I can kinda see the no balace thing but no person to person transactions is dumb.
lemoncurry #6 Posted June 30, 2006 I reckon that's to minimize the rampant fraudulent activity that forces Paypal to be such knobs sometimes...
jerrykurtz #7 Posted June 30, 2006 Or it could just be a start. It is partnered with Citi which used to do p2p transactions. The problem is, it reminds of the the ill fated Microsoft Wallet -- which is too bad. I think Google should concentrate on what they do best -- internet businesses and quit trying to be the M$ killer. I think they would enjoy a lot more success in the auction and p2p payment arena than with trying to replace M$ office, desktop, etc.
