Well since the 360 is the only one a person can actually play...I'm gonna have to go with that system by default.

well since sony has shown that they hate all people who play games, and the fact that i like the wii over 360, one for wii.. but the 360 deserves a vote if i could vote again. Its rather funny. Right now its Wii 50%, 360 50%, and Ps3 0%... would not have guessed that last year, thats for sure...

And here I was just thinking we could really use another pointless poll! :ponder:

lol.. yes the E3 polls/threads for the battle of the systems still has yet to really die down.

Nintendo Wii (Revolution/Hyper Famicom).

I can't think of it as "Next Gen" really as it's

a GC on steroids the way I understand it, but

I'm all about playing the oldies but goodies on

teh thing + playing their 1st Party stuff.

Might get an X360, and Sony can take a shit

and go to bed with their $599.99 + pricetag,

MGS 4 or not.

I'm sick of seeing that gripe. GC on steroids isn't inherently bad.

You know your current PC is an IBM PC/AT on steroids, right?

We've come a long way since the 286.

SNES? NES on steroids.

TurboGrafX? NES on steroids.

The Genesis? A Master System on steroids.

PS2? A PS1 on steroids, from what I understand.

I think the gripe is, we aren't getting much new here. Most folks here have every system Nintendo ever made. The new titles will be Gamecube games. Which is cool, Gamecube is an AWESOME system. I have a brand new one never opened for a backup. That said. I already have 2 GCubes so now I'll have to pay $200 to get....new Gamecube games...and the honor of repaying $5-$15 for games I already paid for once. Granted I'll be able to play them on one system instead of wasting 2 minutes of my life and possibly throwing out my back hooking up my old system. (Actually in the case of the N64 it would really save any time since it's already hooked up ready to go at the touch of a button) I'd be extremely excited if Nintendo announced they were gonna have a setup like Xbox Live where I could play my friends from all over at some old school N games...but to be honest, I'll bet Nintendo doesn't have a stable Network in place to even support head-to-head play.

The remote control. That's new and one of the main reasons I will get one. But I'm not gonna get all wet like some of the folks here are over the Wii. That controllers worth has yet to be proven. For all we know it sucks ass to play games with. I haven't seen one GLOWING review from the hands-on reviews. Most say it needed work. If the issues don't get addressed... Well, everyone here has seen awesome looking and sounding controllers that were so underwelming they get dropped like a hot potato.

If the controller sucks and the network play isnt available... The Wii isn't gonna offer us gamer/collectors much.

I'm not gonna slam the Wii because I haven't got my hands on it yet and it might be impressive as hell...but I can easily understand the gripes. We'll all know soon enough... less than 5 months right?

The Xbox 360 is the ultimate game system! TO THE EXTREME!!! It's so extreme, it'll punch you in the nuts!!!! The 360 doesn't need great games, or real backward compatibility, or decent Xbox Live Arcade support... it's just that EXTREME!!!!!

I'm suprised the 360 is where it's at on the JESSBOARD.

Upper middle of the road? :lolblue:

To hear your constant negative comments and bashing you really need to consider an update...move it to the right a bit in the red, so at least people who visit your site know how displeased you are with absolutely everything about it. You almost make the system sound worth it to you if only for Oblivion...This is obviously a bunch of crap. Why must you decieve good honest hardworking folks that would want to visit your site?? :?

Did you read the article? I make my opinion of the 360 very clear there, and I stand by every word of it. I think the 360 has plenty of potential, but Microsoft isn't doing a good job of tapping it.

Wasn't it supposed to be roughly 4x the Gamecube? That's a pretty good jump, all things considered.

Realistically, it's all you can expect without price hikes.

MS takes losses on the 400$ XBox 360, and the PS3 is expected to be a half-grand or more.

And honestly, nothing new is pretty much the gripe all around.

There's nothing major in the new generation aside from more power. There's no really major feature additions or paradigm shifts. Just more of the same, plus a bit of motion-tracking.

I think this entire generation was launched too soon, actually.

The only real justification for the power increases MS and Sony have is HDTV, and it's just too early for that right now.

Had they held off another 2-3 years for HDTV penetration, the prices would've come down on the hardware. They could be launching a lower-priced 360 and PS3 and a beefier Wii.

I can see room for complaint, really.

Among other things, the Wii's lack of HD support will hurt it long-term. Nintendo might be first out the gate the next generation just to ditch that problem.

But my point was just that a more powerful GameCube isn't really a bad thing. Perhaps the argument could be made that it's not powered up ENOUGH, but that's a totally diffrent issue.

And I can see why it ISN'T more powerful than it is, too.

i agree.. the graphical difference is already pretty small between the 3 anyway, ill take a 200 or more dollar price cut on the wii if it doesnt look like a ps3. It looks good anyway right now. I know games like sonic wildfire wouldnt ever be done on a gc. And many others are looking gorgeous as well. But that controller HAS gotten good reviews. Yes, games like Red Steel said it needed work, but games like mario galaxy, exciite truck, metroid, zelda, etc have gotten very good acclaim for thier controll. The main nintendo author at ign even said the controll for excite truck he was having doubts on, but when he played it he said he wouldnt want to play a racing game any other way, and thinks the wii will be the next racing system, but like the dreamcast was.

Long story short, for the price it has much to offer, and is far from a gc, or else i wouldnt be so excited about it, unlike my gc which is honestly, as much of a fan i am of it, is collecting dust....

why towards the end of nintendo systems do they seem to give up? Ive been playing DC and Saturn now and its not even the end of the current gen, but it feels like it is... they did the same thing on the n64, and that ticked me off so much i bought a ps2 as my first current gen console (bad idea now that i look back). Still, something i wish nintendo didnt do.

That was great!

I love how the Wii is being voted for over the 360 and its not even out yet! Shows you how broken promises turn real gamers off!

The Genesis? A Master System on steroids.

Both the Genesis and Master System are Colecovisions on steroids. (No wonder it was such a POS.) :P :P :P

Honestly, I think people place way to much emphasis on cutting edge features. When you're talking about console games, these features can sometimes mean less fun, because no one really knows how to use them yet. In comparison, Nintendo always releases consoles that provide well-understood features that are easy to code games for, and affordable for the average person.

A quick rundown:

NES was easily bested by the SMS, TG16, and (depending on how you define superiority) the 7800.

SNES was easily bested by the Neo-Geo, CD-i, Atari Jaguar, and 3DO

N64 was easily bested by the Dreamcast and (arguably) Playstation

Only after the N64 did the competitors really gain traction. Mostly because Nintendo dropped the ball on GAMES.

In this generation. Nintendo may seem like they're on the cutting edge with their "Magic Motion Sensing Elves" (kudos Nova!), but in reality they're relying on well understood technology. The PowerGlove existed over a decade ago, many Gameboy games used motion sensors to great effect, laser tracking mice are the norm on computers, and 3D positional mice have been on the market for years. Nintendo is only now making a product out of it now that the components are cheap and work at high levels of reliability.

Even though I think the PS3 will end up having a much better library of games, I concur. The 360 is the best by virtue of being the only one that's actually available at the moment.

hahaha, that made me laugh...

remember when there is no buyers for the system, there is no support, hence no games. Without FF, GTA, and others that are going to microsoft and nintendo what will sony really have that would justify the huge price tag... not as much as the 360 or Wii ill tell you that.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I Voted for the Wii/Revolution/Hyper Famicom as the only system I'm really interested in for what should be called the High Definition Generation (HDG) seeing as how everything is pointing towards hooking up consoles to HDTVs and what not. None of what is coming out however, is next generation by a long shot. The Wii has some novetly features no doubt, but all of the systems still depend on physical controllers of some sort, nothing is fully immersive 3-D "Virtual Reality" so to speak, and one cannot touch, smell, feel, and in a sense be in the game. When the gaming world has reached the possiblity for the gamer themselves to be transported into the game in a fashion much like Tron, or the holo-dec on Star Trek... but through the inteface directive being fused with the sensorium of human thought (ala' William Gibson's descritpions of a SimStim, brought to life somewhat in the film Strange Days though retitled "a wire") THEN AND ONLY THEN, will we have reached The Next Generation. All else right now is still more of the same the way NovaXpress (one of the members here) was saying in the thread about the $600.00 PS3.

That said, I think that the Wii (to me it's the fucking "Hyper Famicom") will be the one that will make the most difference for any future gaming experiences I have. I don't game much, and when I do it's usually on my Famicom AV, Mega Drive, 7800/2600 ProSystem or the occasional PS2 game. Thus it's not so much the graphics I'm complaining about (nor was I complaining), but rather I was stating the fact that from all possible information on the system, Nintendo is basically offering a beefed up Game Cube. Personally I love the GC and didn't see the need for them (Nintendo) to come out with the Hyper Famicom... ahem... Wii. The graphics were nice enough already and it had good games on it + being able to hookup a GBA Player to it. But since it didn't do as well as it should, (well from the way the mags tell it anyhow, I'm sure Nintendo is more than happy with their money) and since the average gamer is fickle in their buying habbits I guess there was no other way. I actually salute Nintendo for doing what they're doing, but let's not pull any punches... the Wii IS Game Cube 3.0.

I'd have to disagree on the SMS-to-Mega Drive thing though. One was obviously an 8-Bit game console, the other a 16-Bit. Same company, more graphics true... but there was no direct connection. Now the PC-Engine on the other hand wasn't a "true" 16-Bit and was more to the point a Hyper 8-Bit system, thus one could say that was a SMS or NES jacked up on steroids. The Neo:Geo already being of the 16-Bit technology could be viewed as a Hyper Super Famicom though, and a lot of times when playing a game like Shock Troopers I can't help but wonder what an SFC/SNES "port" might have looked like. I'm not ragging on the Wii I'm just saying it's GC 3.0 is all. No different than how the AV-8A Harrier "Jump Jet" series of planes got a direct-upgrade to becoming the AV-8B Harrier II or Harrier Plus in the UK and USMC air squadrons. The sub sonic VTOL fighter is a progression on itself, just like how the F-20 TigerShark was the final realization of the F-5 Tiger series of fighters, but the air frame was already 20 + yrs old at the time the TigerShark rolled out so it didn't make it. But all of those examples are of technology being a progression of itself, not building something different by the same manufacturer.

anyhow... Wii for me!

Didn't I say something like this last year. :|

But yeah, I aggree. From a historical standpoint, the leap being taken has never seemed smaller then it does on the next generation.
