For Sale: Atari 5200 Starcon Joystick (Attention 5200 Fans!)

Recommended Posts

We are moving and I have had to trim my collection. This is the last item to go. I will put it on Ebay Sunday night, but I want to accept realistic offers here (and I will link from DP) before deciding to use Ebay. This is one of those special items that is both rare and it works great. It is easily my favorite 5200 joystick. I have two or I would not be selling this one. The bottom was cut and painted by my father and I and it looks great - it's a heavy controller! Actually, this was the very last joystick Mr. Rubatino had when the few surfaced a couple of years ago. I asked him if he had any extras and he told me that he had one original one that he had used to test all the others. Thus, it is used, but in outstanding shape. I have noted the one ding/cut it has in one of the pictures. It came like this and I have black electrical tape on it which makes it almost disappear. Please see pics and pm me if interested. I will take Paypal, check, money order, etc.

Take care,

RG

P.S. Included is the information packet provided by Mr. Rubatino.

Hmm... :D What do these usually go for?

The guy who made and sold them orginally, Fred Rubatino, sold these for $80. He has no more. I suspect that they would be worth $100 or more now. They are really great sticks. I personally met Fred and the star pattern used on the controller is an actual constellation.

-Lee

Rubatino sold the remaining stock for $100 without bases. A few have traded hands behind the scenes, but I have no idea of its value. It is very rare and top quality. I use my other one all the time.

I think it might hit $250 or maybe more on ebay.

Didn't Adam buy one of Seans for around $400?

There was a boxed one on ebay, but not from the recent Rubatino find. It sold I believe, but do not recall the price.

The problem with shipping overseas is the size, weight, and insurance. I have shipped many items overseas, but they are items under $100 - is there insurance for overseas items?
