And the name on the cart is "Atari". From the name, I'm guessing it's a simulation game about running a multi-million dollar corporation into the ground through incompetent management, and selling it off to an even more incompetent management company.

Wow-where do I find this first one on a cart? What the heck is it called anyway? I've never paid much attention to hacks so I know nothing about it.

I'm still wondering if that cart ever existing for the 2600 or the 8-bit computer line

The 2600 in that screen is definatly a mock up. It's either the 5200 or the 8-bit computer version. They look identical graphically, but have some differences like speed and intermissions. As far as a 2600 cart with "Atari" on the top label existing, I doubt it very much.

And don't forget there are some differences in the 8-bit computer versions as well. Some have the much much more accurate dot-munching sound effects :D

I wish someone could hack the 5200 version (the one with intermissions) to have those same sound effects. It would round it off perfectly because let's just face the fact...the 5200 Pacman dot-eating sound sucks.

It's not merely a mock-up video game. It's a piece of paper glued to the screen.

How crappy.

It looks like something that a cheap retail chain would have put together for their newspaper ads. I'm going to blame Woolco.

That seems highly unlikely. The hardware to capture a video frame and then produce a color printout of it was NOT readily available back then. Mostly likely there was just a hidden Atari computer hooked to the TV. Any "paper artifacts" you're seeing are probably from the flyer itself, which appears rather aged.

But it was also nearly impossible to snap a perfect shot off the television (us Activision patch collectors learned that early). An advertising photo like this was almost certainly a composite, the 5200 screen and Atari label being laid on top of the original photo.
