Rybags #1 Posted July 3, 2006 I scored an XEGS on eBay (the postage was more than the item), joystick, light gun, 3 carts. Playing Bug Hunt while testing out the system, I found the light gun to be rather pathetic for range. Using my 51 cm TV I found that it would only work when under 3 feet or so from the screen. Seems strange, especially since it has an enormously long cable. Any tips other than the usual clean the lens technique?
+remowilliams #2 Posted July 3, 2006 One problem is that Bug Hunt sucks Though the XEGS lightgun isn't fantastically accurate overall. And it also depends on the display technology/lighting of the area you are using it in.
MEtalGuy66 #3 Posted July 8, 2006 YEah, I rewired a Sega master system lightgun to work with the atari (just needs the trigger re-wired), and its like 10 times more accurate than the atari one.... But the atari one looks SO kewl... heh. I havent had the atari one apart. Maybe one day after all my other hardware projects are taken care of, Ill start experimenting with actually "tweaking" the atari light gun to try and improve it. Atari Smeghead #4 Posted July 8, 2006 Has anyone tried "The Best Atari Light Gun" from Best Electronics? It's shown on this page... http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/quickguide.htm I used to see eBay auctions for this all the time, but wondered if it was worth the money.
