Do you know what game this is?

I'm looking to find out what a game was called.

 

It was an R-Type style shooter however when you played two players it was possible for both players ships to join together to become a more powerful craft.

 

Can anyone help?

Sounds like SideArms. Excellent game. I had it at one time then sold it. I should get it again and convert it to JAMMA so I can play it in my JAMMA cab.

It seems to me you could but I cant remember how??? Maybe you needed two people playing???

 

Well its not a side-scroller but still I always enjoyed it! I'll have to give Sidearms a try... I always liked games where you could join up and kick ass!!!! Remember the first time you got back your captured ship in Galaga!!!???

Man I must be out of it but I don't remember two players joining up in Sidearms at all. But then again all I have of that game is the TG-16 version, and I only had one controller with it. So there you go

 

I should try out the arcade version in mame! yeah that's what I'll do...
