neotokeo2001 #1 Posted July 12, 2006 Everytime there is a screenshot of a Wii game, Are we going to have to see how stupid people look playing the game? O.K. Maybe it will be alright if they have women in every shot. I just hope that the games don't get ruined by going overboard with the controller. How many people actually want to jump around when they play games? I am looking forward to getting the Revolution (Can't say Wii anymore ) but it won't be for the contoller. AtariJr #2 Posted July 12, 2006 dude, its just an advertisement.. you can sit in your couch and twitch your hand to get the same commands to come on the screen.. its just to show energy. If they showned some kid laying in a chair half asleep not moving how would that make the console look new and exciting? Hell even Xbox ads have people practically jumping off the couch pushing each other side to side to seemingly disrupt their gaming so that they the advantage... its to make it exciting so people warrant a purchase. I was actually thinking more about the magazine reviews/previews. It seems that all of the magazines have insets on the game pics showing the controller motions. Hopefully the games will have the option to stick with classic controls the way a lot of DS games do. But, There have been a lot of DS games ruined by forcing all of the controls to the touch screen. I guess we will know for sure in Oct/Nov. Right now I am getting a Revolution and a X-Box 360. For the price, Sony can keep their PS3-DO
+remowilliams #5 Posted July 13, 2006 Why's that one guy sitting on the couch with an orange beer bong? That's the WiiHorn controller for Zelda. You stick it in your ass and trumpet magical songs to gain power.

liveinabin #8 Posted July 17, 2006 Once the machine is out and everyone's had a go on the controller, they'll surely stop doing it. I can see why they're doing this, after all, the control system is the Wii's killer app (for the launch at least).

I think what they do makes it look fun to play.. and common, most commercials and ads go overboard anyway...OXY clean anyone? lol
AtariJr #10 Posted July 18, 2006 btw, IGN just stated today that it is REQUIRED for all pictures of games to have a picture of how the controller is to be used so that people know how it will handle... while most are photos of gamers, sega has chosen the illustrations which do the same thing but leave out the cheeziness.... so while its slightly annoying to some people, it DOES have a purpose, and its not a choice for developers right now. read the last post: http://wii.ign.com/mail/
Ze_ro #11 Posted July 19, 2006 People don't seem to mind looking like idiots while they bounce around playing DDR... I don't see how the Wii would be any different in that respect. If everyone in the room is having fun, then no one notices that kind of stuff. --Zero
Video #12 Posted July 19, 2006 That's actually fairly typical of video game adds. Even back to the old Atari, if you look at the old adds, you always saw people jumping around looking like their screeming at the TV or whatever. It's just standard advertising, and their way of saying "our stuffs fun, play with our wii"

And if you don't believe him, just check out this old Vectrex ad: BTW, the only problem I have with the Wii is that I don't have one. Blast you, CPUWiz! AussieAtari #14 Posted July 19, 2006 Hasn't anyone watched someone playing a driving game with a standard controller? They tend to lean right over when turning corners and jump up and down if there are jumps involved. My wife makes Pole Position into an aerobics exercise the way she plays it! Just as long as the orange thing isn't open at the bottom and the guy is hoping that she will reach in to get the last of the popcorn and find the teenager version of a Kinder Surprise
AtariJr #15 Posted July 20, 2006 that japanese chick looks a lot easier on the eyes at least than the scarey ass mother in the Vectrex ad lol.

Atarifever #17 Posted July 20, 2006 (edited) Forget the mother... that father redefines the term "crow's feet." He's got the whole damn bird trapped in his temple! JR The guy playing must be like, "could you scary looking freaks please give me some space here. I'm trying to play a game. For God's sake, I bought a system with it's own screen to get away from you guys." I mean, the family isn't even watching the game, they're just all staring at each other next to it. AtariJr #18 Posted July 20, 2006 yea that bafflled me, unlike old nintendo and atari ads where the whole family is engrossed in the product on screen, this family looks like their trying to piss of the two kids by blocking the small screen from their view. Either that or he has a serioulsy large booger hanging from his nose and they cant hold it in any longer. My mom used to step in front of the screen to tick my off, ... but she never rememebered that there are things called start buttons
