Kind of a grim thought, but...........

Recommended Posts

Well, I was just looking at some of your websites that have photos of you collection room and all that Atari stuff, and it came to my mind, "Where the hell does all that stuff go when they die?" so seeing that my collection is nuttin compared to yours, I figured I would ask you all wheres all this stuff going to go? Seeing you spent a ton of time finding and spending all the $$ on the stuff, your family cant just throw it out, have you made any plans as to what is going to happen to the stuff "afterwards"? :ponder:

I have a friend in PA that is in my will that is going to get all my stuff. He's exactly like me, we have been friends for forever now, and I know damn well he's going to keep good care of it.

Strangely enough, I've actually thought about that! I told my wife to let my friends or family (who are interested in games etc) have a couple things each if they want them - and then sell the rest. She doesn't really care about video games that much - she'll probably keep "bust-a-move" though.... that's one game she does like.

Expect thousands of huge 'crazy old man' estate sales on Ebay 2050

Maybe then you can get a Quadrun for less than $50 :D

I asked my wife that question a few years ago and initially she said she'd probably take most of it to a thrift store! :skull:

Not that I'll really care when I'm dead and gone, but I'm glad I asked.

I told her to give it away to whatever family and friends are interested, then post the rest of it here and somebody would help her figure out the best way to sell the rest of the stuff.

I have a friend who I have promised certain choice items if I should ever pop my clogs. The remainder would probably go to my nephew for he too was a huge 2600 lover ;)

The world has already become accustomed to 'Crazy Old Cat Ladies' - they better start preparing for 'Crazy Old Cart Men'

I've got standing orders to be burned atop my very own MIB funeral pyre. Can't take it with you eh? I'll show you!

When I no longer need it, mine will go to either my daughter (if she has kids when I kcik the bucket), my brother (if I buy the farm a little sooner), or to a charity for use in one of those "keep kids off the streets" type youth activities.

I just want it to be used for something, not get burned up or buried.

I don't know about you guys, though, but I'm planning to live forever.

I'm planning to keep this body for at least 10,000 years, so I'm sure my collection would be unusable by the time I'd ever get around to dying.

I have bought a lot of Atari stuff from relatives of collectors who have died.

Inevitably I think probably most of us have at some point (knowingly or not), and not just Atari stuff. There were people in their 40s and 50s who had the money to buy stuff I couldn't afford at the time when I was say 10. Cycle of things 'n all ;)

I say this being 100 percent serious, It's all coming with me. I only have 1 console and under 100 games in my Atari Collection and unless my Son takes a VERY keen intrest in Atari it's all coming 6 feet deep when the bell tolls.

I have an implant in my head, that is wired to a detonator, it will create a huge Atari bondfire as soon as my brain is dead.

Mwuhahahaa

I hope I don't hit my head the wrong way. :ponder:

I intend on coming back as a zombie, so if my wife or anyone else tries to get rid of it, goodbye brain!

I remember this guy Paul collecting old games, but the thing that pissed me off most:

1 - He didn't play any games.

2 - He wrote on every one in permanent marker!

He was saving them for his grandchild to fund her college tuition.
