I usually just tap it against something. If that doesn't work, then I take a blunt instrument of some sort and poke at it until it's loose.

Just so you know, having it stuck isn't a big deal. The cart should still operate properly. It just isn't as well guarded against dust.

No, it won't operate properly. If the dust sheild is stuck all the way up, the two prongs on the cartridge won't open up the dust shield on your console. (Well, it won't on my console ;))

Usually firmly holding the cartridge in your hand, smack it dust shield side down into the palm of your other hand. Best of luck.

I'm not sure if it's completely safe, but I usually spray some silicone lubricant on a q-tip and wipe it around the open end of the cartridge. It's not oily and doesn't attract dust, but it's super slippery and gets those dust covers moving in no time. I've also used it on the cartridges that have spring-loaded pegs. When those are stuck, you can't insert it in the console either.

Agreed. Percussive maintenance. Smack the $hit out of it.

Make sure you have Charmin on hand to clean up the mess. If you don't, then smack it just a little softer.

Use a flat head screwdriver on the end openings (not the middle) and that should do the trick quite well.

Does this mean that (for a change) I actually get bonus points for having a 7800? :ponder: :D
