Ansiterm #1 Posted July 26, 2006 I have a fairly big collection of Antic and Analog magazines along with the flppy disks that came with them. I'm new to selling on Ebay, and I could use some help in figuring out the best strategy for selling them. Considering the Antic collection for example, is it better to offer the entire collection, or is it better to break it up into smaller chunks-- maybe divided into separate offerings of issues published during single years. For simplicity, I'd rather offer the entire set of Antic magazines, one Ebay auction and one shipment, but I'm wondering if that might be too much for anyone looking for just a few issues to complete their collection. There might not be many people looking for a big collection. But offering single issues doesn't seem at all practical. So the compromise is some smaller grouping. Any thoughts would be appreciated. +davidcalgary29 #3 Posted July 26, 2006 You'll have no problem unloading your Antic mags. As a matter of fact, why not offer them in "Marketplace", divided by volume/year? I'd pay in the range of $20 for a complete years' worth of old magazines.
Ansiterm #4 Posted July 27, 2006 ANTIC Oct 1983 vol 2 no 7 to April 1989 vol 7 no 12. ANALOG April-May 1983 issue 11 to Nov 1989 issue 78. The last year of both mags has some gaps, and I have not verified yet that the other years are complete. I'll check that tonight if I have time. What issues of Analog do you have? Ansiterm #5 Posted July 27, 2006 Sounds like a good idea. I'm using Paypal on Ebay, but how would payment work for selling in "Marketplace?" Check or money order would be fine though slower. I'm just wondering if there is some other mechanism. You'll have no problem unloading your Antic mags. As a matter of fact, why not offer them in "Marketplace", divided by volume/year? I have paid for items many times that way.
Ansiterm #7 Posted July 27, 2006 Thanks for the info. Is the Paypal "Request Money" function the way to do that? Sounds like a good idea. +Guitarman #8 Posted July 28, 2006 (edited) Thanks for the info. Is the Paypal "Request Money" function the way to do that? If you want to send a payment request to someone, yes. They will then get notification that you have requested a payment and all they have to do is approve the transaction. Or you can tell the buyer the e-mail address you have your Paypal account set up as and they can then just send the money that way. Either way works good. thomasholzer #9 Posted July 28, 2006 I'm looking for these two, if you sell single issues, and ship to Germany. Can pay via PP too. Antic: September 1984, October 1984
Ansiterm #10 Posted July 28, 2006 I'm finding lots of individual issues of Antic autioned on Ebay, but the prices (mostly BuyItNow only) are a bit hard to fathom. www.atarimania.com #11 Posted July 29, 2006 Do you have the disk for the September 1986 issue of ANALOG Computing? It seems all the archives are missing the second side which has a game called Launch Code. This is probably the only program from the mag that's still MIA... -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com
Ansiterm #12 Posted July 30, 2006 Yes, I have the September 1986 ANALOG disk, but, oddly, I do not have the printed issue. Also I do not have any complete years. So offering to sell issues grouped by year is making less sense, I'm afraid. Not sure what I'm going to do with them now. Do you have the disk for the September 1986 issue of ANALOG Computing? Ansiterm #13 Posted August 7, 2006 I'm holding off listing my Antic and ANALOG magazines for sale because I'm moving in about 10 days. Preparing for that is taking all my free time. I have a couple of Atari computers and disk drives and peripherals that I'm going to offer too, either here in Marketplace or on Ebay. I'm keeping a couple of other Atari computers and drives. Pulling all my Atari stuff out and finding this forum has rekindled my interest.

Ansiterm #15 Posted August 7, 2006 (edited) Wow, that's a long list. I was getting the impression (mostly from this forum) that almost all Atari software was out there already. I have a lot of disks besides those associated with the issues of Antic and ANALOG that I have. I'll sort through them when I get some free time. Off hand, I think I might have some of the missing APX games. Unfortunately, at the moment I don't have any way to upload them except maybe through an old sx212 modem. But I'm handy with a soldering iron, and I was toying with the idea of building a SIO2PC. If you find some old disks with programs that are still MIA, please let us know. Ansiterm #17 Posted August 8, 2006 Are there copyright issues with any of these MIA disks? If so, how is that handled? If you find some old disks with programs that are still MIA, please let us know. www.atarimania.com #18 Posted August 8, 2006 Are there copyright issues with any of these MIA disks? If so, how is that handled? To make it short, no tangible copyright issues as what we're looking for usually isn't for sale anymore, was made by now defunct publishers, and, most of the time, can only be found on old copied disks / tapes gathering dust... -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com

Ansiterm #20 Posted August 10, 2006 Someone suggested selling the magazines grouped by year, but I don't have any complete years. But I hadn't thought about selling in lots of 3 or 6. I suppose that would appeal to someone looking for a particular issue to round out their collection. That is a good question about which Atari computers I'm selling. I have 4 and plan to keep maybe two, and I haven't decided which ones to sell. I have a 400, a 800, a 800XL, and a 130XE. The 800 was the one I used the most, so I'm leaning toward keeping that one. All are in excellent condition and recently tested with disk drives and joysticks and cartridges and disk based programs. Which would you keep? I had hoped to sell some of my collection before the move, but it took me a while to check out ebay and marketplace. So, unfortunately, I simply do not have enough time left to deal with the logistics of selling any of this stuff until after the move. I'll unpack it again in a couple of weeks. Unless someone is desperate for particular magazine issues or a power supply or something. I'm holding off listing my Antic and ANALOG magazines for sale because I'm moving in about 10 days. Zeptari1 #21 Posted August 11, 2006 The 800XL is the system I had back in the day. So I'd pick that one. How much are we talking? How much extra for a disk drive too? I picked up a used A400 and 10 carts the other day for $10. Too bad the 400 is missing a power cable and the video/audio cable looks like a cat made a meal out of it! Take your time unpacking.... I'll wait.... ohhh and the Antic mags.... depends how much you want for them... I'd like 3 or 6 issues.... add that onto the 800XL's price if you decide to sell it....
