Atari 2600 Yellow Trim Paint

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what color this is and where to get it if one wanted to "spruce" up the trim on their Big Sexy?

Thanks!

Are you talking about the lip of the trim that surounds the the switches, if so, I always thought it was an orange color?

:? :ponder: :?

I found a color that is pretty close to that, I even still have the color swatch, but I won't be able to get to it till tomorrow, but I will post it here, I found it at a hardware store.

Thanks. I know when I was cleaning it that the faceplate pops out. Would it be easier to just get another sixer faceplate that's in better condition and trade them out? Would it have to be a heavy faceplate or would a regular sixer due?

I think on the older vcs's,like the heavy and light six switch, the paint is yellow,at least on mine, and i have one that looks orange, hard to tell exactly,as paint detiorates with time, and to know exactly the name or number of the paint the factory used, god only knows

I can distinctly remember my original Atari Heavy Sixer (bought in 77 or 78) when I was a kid, had a yellow trim around the switches. As for what shade, I have no idea. Maybe if someone has one with good yellow trim still, they could post a pic. I wish I could help, but my heavy sixer is a Sears brand, now.

i think the yellow is a fade of the orange. ive seen it with some of my old sun faded 2600s.

I think it more likely varies with where and when it was made. Promo consoles (4-switch woodgrain w/ "PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY NOT FOR SALE" stamped in the bottom; most also have polished chrome switch handles) have yellow trim and lettering and matching yellow-trimmed joysticks. Other 4-switch woodies have orange trim. I think only the promos were made in Sunnyvale, with the other 4-switch woodies coming from Taiwan or the 3rd location (Singapore?)
