sandmountainslim #1 Posted August 6, 2006 OK I know that I have rattled on about this game before but it is great! I say that if this cart had been released during the system's heyday that it would have outsold Space Invaders. If you haven't went to the AA Store and bought this one yet please do so. Post Scriptum I do not work for John or Champ Games and this is not a paid advertisement. WP
Shawn #2 Posted August 7, 2006 This is THE best 2600 game to be made in a while. It should be homebrew of the year 2006 with no porblem, that is unless the next 4 months are very good to us gamers with another game coming out that can give COM a run for it's money but I highly doubt it. Maybe this one... Debro has a point! Ladybug could very well outdo COM I shall wait until I have the finished product to make up my mind however. Shawn #5 Posted August 7, 2006 Nope, COM is better than LadyBug in my books. But to each their own.
godzillajoe #6 Posted August 13, 2006 OK lemme add myself to the COM recommendation list. This game is just about perfect. I may be an idiot for asking but is this homebrew the same as the Caverns Of Mars on the Flashback 2.0? That one was a flickery mess but this one is flawless. It looks a lot like the Flashback game. Which i really didn't find all that good. Can you ellucidate? -Ray

+Nathan Strum #9 Posted August 13, 2006 What is now Conquest of Mars was initially written to replace the FlashBack 2's Caverns of Mars, in a future revision of the product. But that never happened, because of Atari's financial problems. Fortunately, since John retained ownership of his code, he was able to release the game through AtariAge under a different title. sandmountainslim #10 Posted August 13, 2006 I have never played the FB2 COM and from what I hear I am not missing much. However in my opinion if you don't buy the COM which Champ Games produced and the AA Store is selling then you are missing one of the finest games ever released for the VCS and only screwing yourself. sandmountainslim #11 Posted July 14, 2007 People don't talk about COM enough! Dammit I am bringing my own thread back from the abyss. Hail to COM, the finest on the system. WP
sandmountainslim #12 Posted July 14, 2007 One question for the experts. In the 8 bit Caverns of Mars was their an option to make the Martian cannon fire at you or did John come up with that idea? WP

WP John came up with it when I was play testing to give the enemys more life in the game IIRC.
